ParticipantHello over at The Events Calendar! I’m going to be launching our course catalog soon using your plugin, and I’m very happy with how easy it was to setup and implement. I’m just facing one small hiccup that I hope you can help me address.
When I direct people to a specific calendar category (ie: https://jewishboard.org/calendar/category/courses/), and they try to search for a specific term, they’re directed to a bad url (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/month/2016-09/?tribe_events_cat=courses&tribe-bar-search=child&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90). If I removed the “/month” from that, it works fine.
In addition, if someone jumps into a non-default month view, (ie: https://jewishboard.org/calendar/month/?tribe_events_cat=courses&tribe-bar-date=2016-10&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90) and then searches, it works fine because the URL generated doesn’t have that “/month” in it (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/2016-10/?tribe-bar-date=2016-09&tribe-bar-search=child&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90). It looks like there’s just something going on in that default category view that makes the search bar want to toss a “/month” in there and mess up the search function.
The only real overriding/adjusting I’ve done is attempt to have the calendar page title say move from “Events for X” to show the category name for that month, so I don’t believe anything I’ve done on my end could have caused this. Would appreciate any advice you could provide. Thank you in advance!

MemberHi Richard. Thanks for the detailed report.
If you change your default calendar view from Month to List, does the Tribe Bar search results display as expected?

ParticipantJust tried a search on list mode (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/category/courses/list/) and that does work (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list&tribe-bar-search=child&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90).
Even when testing to search for something that I know won’t have a result, it works and gives the correct “can’t find anything” message (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list&tribe-bar-search=qwerty&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90).
I also tried day mode and that worked fine as well.
I did a search test when the calendar was explicitly flagged as month view vs month-view-by-default (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/category/courses/month/) and that still doesn’t work (https://jewishboard.org/calendar/month/2016-09/?tribe_events_cat=courses&tribe-bar-search=child&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90).
After some additional poking around, it looks like the month view’s issue is having “/month” AND “/2016-09” in the URL the same time is what is causing the bad URL. If it’s just one or the other, things work fine.
Both of the following provide correct results:
https://jewishboard.org/calendar/month/?tribe_events_cat=courses&tribe-bar-search=child&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90
https://jewishboard.org/calendar/2016-09/?tribe_events_cat=courses&tribe-bar-search=child&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=90Not sure if this helps troubleshoot what is going on, and thank you for the quick response.

MemberOn my local testing site (where Month is the default view), if I search for the term “ticket”, I’m taken to /events/2016-09/?tribe-bar-date=2016-09&tribe-bar-search=ticket, which results in this: https://cl.ly/3k1J1c0V2J1s
If I then go to the next month (October, where there is an event that should match the search term), it results in this: https://cl.ly/463J0o0V1a1Q
If, however, I search for “xyz” (expecting to match zero events), I still get the message like this:
There were no results found for “xyz” this month. Try searching next month.
- Are you NOT experiencing the same?
- Or, if you ARE experiencing the same, are you saying the Month View shouldn’t allow you to click to previous and future months if there are a total of zero matching events in the entire calendar? For example: https://cl.ly/0i3r400H1M3h
