    Hi,

I am trying to translate to Hebrew using the po files, in the regular and pro lang directory
    wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/lang
    and
    wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lang

    Is there another location ?
most of the translation is OK BUT can not find how to translate the items marked on the attached images

another issue is that when working in Hebrew the search results and exports says (שגוי) which means (error) . When switching to English everything seems to work file without the error (see attached image )

    Howdy Amir,

Welcome to our support forums and thanks for reaching out to us. I’ll help you getting this right!

Before continuing let me point you to the translation resources we have in place:

It’s very likely you stumble upon un-translated string as only 12% of The Events Calendar and 20% of Events Calendar PRO are translated to Hebrew. As you will find the process of contributing translations for our premium plugins is pretty straight forward and I think the best way for you to have more strings translated is to actually submit your translations to the site → http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects/tribe-events-calendar-pro/he/default. This way yo won’t have a separate translation set (different from the ‘official’ one) and won’t benefit from future contributions to the plugin translation. At the same time you’ll be helping the hebrew community have a more complete translation 🙂

Regarding the error message ‘(error)’ message that might be coming from a bad translation. Can you please let me know what’s the text in English when you can make it work?

    Thanks,
    Nico

    Thanks for the patience Amir!

    So, the issues now are:

When I chose the “month” view I get an error in the text as shown in the image

I’m not seeing this error when I switch my site language to Hebrew and navigate to month view → https://cloudup.com/cNUUfdZ5cn4

Another place where I get the error (שגוי) is the image view

Not getting the image error either → https://cloudup.com/cVB7EGeIVc3

Couldn’t find how to translate this string: ‘Share this story, Choose your platform’

The cited string is not part of our plugins, that’s the reason you are not finding it!

Can you please try switching to a default WordPress theme like Tweenty Sixteen and see if the issues are present there as well? Regarding the translations, have you added custom translations to the files or you just downloaded and pasted the translations files from our translation site?

    Thanks,
    Nico

    Hi Nico

I switch the WordPress theme as you suggested – same error
    http://prntscr.com/ccee7u

I left it on a test site http://test.yarok-bair.co.il/events/

do you have any idea how to translate ‘Share this story, Choose your platform’ ?

    Thanks for following up Amir!

I can see the error in there, but again I’m not getting the same when I test this is my local site:

Regarding the translations, have you added custom translations to the files or you just downloaded and pasted the translations files from our translation site?

It’s import to know this because the issue might come from your own translation, and that’s why I’m not seeing the issue in my local test site. If you are using your own translation files please send them over so I can try to reproduce this on my end.

do you have any idea how to translate ‘Share this story, Choose your platform’ ?

Aparently this string comes from the Avada theme. Please check if you are seeing it in TweentySixteen theme, if you are not the odds are it’s coming from Avada. If that’s the case then you should reach out to them to see how they accept translation strings.

    Thanks,
    Nico

    Thanks for following up Amir!

I was able to reproduce the issue in my local install. But when I download the Hebrew files form the WordPress language repo (https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/the-events-calendar/stable/he/default) and place them in the ‘language override’ folder (wp-content/languages/plugins/the-events-calendar-he_IL.po/mo) there are no such issues. So I’m thinking maybe the changes you made for some reason are generating these issues.

Which program are you using to edit the translation files?

Can you try to download the Hebrew default translation set, place it in the override folder (wp-content/languages/plugins/the-events-calendar-he_IL.po/mo) and generate the corresponding .mo file? Once you do this, do you still see the error in the top bar?

Also, I wasn’t able to find any information about this issue online (error string appended to translation string) if you stumble upon a description of the error please share it with me.

Digging in the translation file you sent for The Events Calendar (the-events-calendar-he_IL.po) I see the following in line 3130:

    #: src/Tribe/Main.php:4167
    msgid "%s In"
    msgstr "%s (שגוי)"

So it seems like the error string is part of the translation you edited. Can you doubke check on this?

    Thanks,
    Nico
