Translation for Events Calendar and Pro 3.0

Hi there,
I’ve been using the Events Pro for almost a year now and I love it! I recently got the update but to be honest I’m still getting used to the new version (right now it’s a bit messy).

The thing is, I customized the .PO e .MO files for PT_BR in a way to attend the particular demands on my blog, but in this news version I see that there are still a lot of fields to translate (on my own way) that are not listed on the POT files.

For instance, the way the dates appear on the calendar (Segunda-feira, Terça-feira etc). In Portuguese, we normally only use the first word “Segunda”, “Terça” and, in this case, it will make a huge difference because, as it is, the calendar is always overriding the side bar area (is too large due to these day labels and the amount of events in a month).

So, my question is, how can I change the label names in cases such as this?

Hi Cintia,

Yes, there were some significant changes made to the translation files in the recent update. Since the PT_BR files in pre-3.0 versions were translated by a different community member than the ones in the current release, there are going to be inconsistencies. Luckily, you have a couple of options.

You could either take the existing file and make the necessary changes/additions that you see fit. Or you could make your own file and have control over exactly what’s in it. Hi Julie,
That’s the thing. I’ve translated the new POT file, but still there are a few items that weren’t listed there and therefore, I couldn’t translate them as I want.

The thing is, there’s nothing wrong with the current translation. It’s my use of the calendar that is different. You see, my events calendar is actually a “deadline” calendar for job applications. So I’ve literally changed the translation to fit my needs.

There are some labels that aren’t in the POT files, so I need to know where I can change them. Such as the example for the day labels on the calendar itself.

Hi there,
Any news on how I can translate the labels that aren’t on the POT files, such as the days in the calendar grid? In the way it was translated, the name is too big. I’ve already reduced the size of the letters and everything, but it’s still overriding the sidebar are, because now all the columns are really learge (due to the extension of the days labels).

Hope there’s a simple solution for that.

Hi Cintia,

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I’m going to move it to the support area for Events Calendar PRO since that’s a more appropriate venue for it. They’ll be better able to help you there.

But I do know that there are some strings that aren’t translatable. We try to address these with each release and have some included in our upcoming maintenance release. There may be new strings included that are ready for you to translate. I don’t know if those labels will specifically be part of that release though.
