ParticipantHi there,
I am really happy with this plugin. There is just one thing: for most of my events, the entire description is made using only the custom fields. In the post area I only add an image (button style) with a link.
This is causing a problem: neither Google nor my search tool (within the blog) recognizes these fields as “text”. It is as if there wasn’t any content on my events at all. When I type any of the words from the custom fields on these searchs, nothing is found, but if I type the title of the event, the results appear normally.
So, I’d like to transfer that section with the event details, such as venue, organizer and custom fields to the the “post” area. Or maybe make a change on the code so all this text can be considered.
Here’s an example of event on my blog: http://www.vidadetrainee.com/programa/estagio-suzano-papel-e-celulose/Thanks a lot

ParticipantHi Cintia,
I’m not quite sure what you are asking for here. Isn’t this just a matter of going through each event and manually transferring the data yourself?

ParticipantHi Jonah,
What I meant is if it is possible for that entire section to be considered part of the post content. In a way that, for every new event that I create, all the content of the custom fields wiil be displayed within the post content area (so the search engines can “read” this content). Is there a change in the code that could do that? Or maybe something to make this content of the custom fields to also be considered by the search engines?January 17, 2013 at 8:51 am #31033Jonah
ParticipantHi Cintia,
You should be able to do this by modifying the single events template. Make a copy of /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/single.php and place in an ‘events’ folder in your active theme. Then open up that file and add the custom fields within the post content however you want.
Does that help?

ParticipantHi Jonah,
Your suggestion worked but I didn’t like the way it was displayed, so I came back to the standard.Right now I’m working on developing an advanced search for the customized fields. I hope this will solve the problem for the readers.
My theme support offers “customization tweaks”, a service where you describe your need and they do it for you after negotiating the price.
Maybe you guys could offer something like that for the ECP.
Thanks

ParticipantHi cintia,
Did you try styling it with CSS? You should be able to get it looking however you want…
We are definitely talking about opening up a more official customization resource for people here on the site. But for now, we don’t have much. I’d help you but I’m too busy with other work right now…
Sorry I can’t offer up more here.
