ParticipantHey Guys –
Quick question. Is there a way to transfer a license key to a new account? We have a client who is managing their own site now and requests support. But I can’t give them access to our account as the billing info and a couple other project licenses reside in there. So can I deactivate the license key in my account and transfer it to them?
This brings up an interesting question as I know for situations like this its probably best practice for the client to be owners of their accounts but I have always had a few issues with that:
1) Clients aren’t technical. The handholding it takes to create an account, enter their billing information and then either add me as a managed user and/or authenticate me as a managed or authorized user is confusing and requires a lot of walk through. The frustration gets to a point where the idea is that “aren’t i hiring you so I don’t need to do this stuff”.
2) Contact information for technical support needs to go directly to me. Which is possible but most times it goes to the account owner first OR comes to the owner and the authorized contact. This causes more confusion if we are working to resolve an technical issues.
3) Updates, new, patches etc… again go to owner email and confuses clients and always need to provide clarification.
4) Management – licenses/support and updates all go through one account as opposed to managing many as an “authorized user” where CCs expire, billing address information can change, renewal notices can get lost in email to clients etc…
Anyway – the management, confusion and hand holding to me doesn’t justify the $89 yearly cost. While I understand its the ideal, the process of doing it that way doesn’t seem to be able to be managed in a way for the best interest of the client. Just curious to thoughts. I don’t upsell the cost of the plugin or anything. Its simply for management, support and communication pathway reasons.
But real question is: Can I transfer an active license to another user account?
Thanks!
Matt

MemberHi Matt
We don’t offer a transfer process for you to transfer the license yourself to the client at this time. In my freelance work, I’ve explained why this plugin is needed/valuable for a client’s website. I’ve then worked with them through their own purchase of the license to avoid the transfer issue.
However, we are able to work with you on this process. You’ll need to reach out to our email support team for that.
Please send an email to

Please include your order number, a copy of your confirmation email, or the payment method (Stripe or PayPal) and transaction ID. Also include a link to this thread.
Thanks

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
