ParticipantHello –
I’m having issues with both Google & iCal “Add to My Calendar” displaying the correct timezone. I’ve tried setting this up with either selecting the main city associated with the time zone (i.e. New York; Mexico City) or via UTC, but when one goes to add it to his/her calendar, the timezone does not populate respective to the calendar on Google (timezone is a link & you can select which one) and iCal does not offer an option.
We have Customer Appreciation Days in multiple different time zones in the US – all are 11:00AM – 1:00PM local time.
Is this working as designed or what am I missing?

ParticipantHey Laura,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
To clarify, how are you creating the events for the different timezones? Are you creating individual events for each local timezone and setting them to 11:00am – 1:00pm based on the local timezone or is there a single event set to 11:00am – 1:00pm?
As for the import into Google, I believe the expectation here is that the event will import based on the timezone set for the event. So, if the event created as 11:00am – 1:00pm pacific it would import into a person on the east coast’s calendar as 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
Let me know this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Josh,
I’m creating based on each local timezone – interestingly enough, this change (and not using UTC) fixed the iCal issue. However, Google isn’t displaying the respective time zone … it leaves it open for the end-user to fill-out. Have you seen this before? Not sure if this is a recent thing or a settings issue on my Google calendar (I checked it out and understand it to be on the ‘correct’ setting).
Here’s the link to our events – is your Google calendar automatically populating the correct timezone or leaving it open for you to select? http://diyanddrive.pullapart.com/events/

ParticipantHey Laura,
So the downloadable .ics file is now respecting the timezone when being imported?
When clicking to the single events, it doesn’t appear that the local timezone is being respected. I have to click an option to change the timezone within Google however all events are getting switched to my local timezone. For example, I’m in EST and events in CST are still importing as 11:00am – 1:00pm in my calendar (would expect them to show as 12:00 – 2:00pm my time).
I created a new event in my local install and was able to replicate this issue there. I’ve created a new internal bug ticket for tracking this and have added this thread to that ticket. You’ll be notified here as we make progress on this one.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about that process.
Thanks!
