David
ParticipantHello,
I’m still having timezone issues for items that are imported from iCal via Google Calendar.
Very similar issue as this thread, https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/ical-importer-8-hours-issue-persist-after-4-0-2/
Please help!

MemberHi David. Thanks for opening your own thread.
Could you please provide me the link to one or more of the Google Calendar iCal feeds so I can test?
Also, would you mind grabbing your system information and pasting it here? Make sure to use the “Set as private reply” checkbox to protect your private information from the public.
You can find the system info by going to WP Admin > Events > Settings > Help tab > System Information section — or by going to [yoursite]/wp-admin/edit.php?page=tribe-common&tab=help&post_type=tribe_events#tribe-system-info
That will give me a lot of extra information to help diagnose the problem.

MemberThanks.
The iCal link validates, which is the first step.
My WordPress timezone is “Chicago” and I tested import of 1 event, “Annual Meeting”, and it imported correctly to 8am my time.
Please re-test the import with various WordPress timezone settings and let me know if you discover any issues based on your WordPress timezone settings — whether a certain setting gets it to work or certain ones consistently fail or anything else.
If you determine something like that, please let me know and I’ll test on my site too.
Thanks.

ParticipantThanks, Cliff.
My WordPress timezone settings have been at UTC-5 (we are in Toledo, OH – EST). I changed the WordPress setting to Detroit and added some events and it looks like things are working. The problem must have been having it set to UTC. Although, it doesn’t seem to fix the events that were already imported. Is there a way to fix these easily?

ParticipantAlso, I deleted the test events that I created on the Google Calendar, but they didn’t delete on the site’s calendar. Is there a way to have them removed from the site when they’re removed from the Google Calendar?

MemberSorry about the UTC vs named timezone issue. Will that be an acceptable timezone for you to use permanently?
There’s not a way to easily “fix” those events that aren’t set right.
For events imported/created via iCal Importer, when you delete them, they’re not really deleted and therefore the duplicate-checker built into the iCal Importer detects them as previously imported and doesn’t re-import them.

ParticipantI am having the same issues with timezone and ICAL import.
In the ICS file the events are all GMT-O time zone. However even though my site is set to GMT-5 it displays the events as GMT-0
For example. In the ICS file Event One has a STARTDATE as 20160202T210000Z (which is 9p GMT0) however the event really occurs at 4pm which should be GMT-5.
Please let me know how to get the timezones working properly.

MemberHey fixdesigns, thanks for letting us know.
I think if you change from “UTC-5” to “New York” (of whatever city best represents your timezone and how Daylight Savings Time affects it) that the issue will be resolved.
If that DOES NOT solve the issue for you, please open your own new thread with your site-specific details.
If it DOES solve the issue for you, feel free to let us know in this thread.
Thanks!

David, how are things going for you?
