    Hi guys.

Love the recent updates but there appears to be something new that causes a problem for me.

I ticked the ‘ main blog loop’ option so my events would get the same front page publicity as my standard blog posts.

Trouble is, the main blog is understanding the actual date of the event as the ‘date posted’. Therefore, it sticks the farthest away events to top of the blog. (The post at the top of my homepage shows the post date as July 8th 2014!)
I must disable this now as my homepage looks as though it’s never updated.

I have reverted to original theme and deactivated all my non-ECP plugins and the problem persists.

This is new as I never had the problem prior to Version 3.

    Hope you can help

    Dan

This is indeed new – and deliberate.

Previously events were integrated into the main blog stream by date published, however a number of users complained that if for example an event was published well in advance it would never surface on the main blog page. So, in response to that feedback, this behaviour was modified.

You could try adding this snippet to your theme’s functions.php file (you can probably omit the opening <?php tag though) to bring about the previous behaviour.

    Does that help at all?

    Hi Barry

Thanks for the info! Interesting that other others found the opposite problem. I can’t really see how having a static event/post/image stuck at the top of a home page is appealing to the viewer. Horses for courses I guess.

I’ll see if your suggested snippet works. Much appreciated.

I read a suggestion for a possible update; in the forum a month or two ago:
A widget that displays recently posted events.

That way, I can show my readers what is hot of the press. It would help to pull in more submissions for community events too; allowing their events to take a prominent place on the home page.

    All the best

That’s a great idea – as always we’d recommend post it on our feature request page at UserVoice (other can then add comments to flesh out the idea and/or simply show their support).

I’ll go ahead and close this issue as I think we’re all good here, but if there’s anything else we can help with please don’t hesitate to open a new thread.

    Thanks!
