goodwork
ParticipantHi there! I have had great success with the WooTickets plugin so far but we’ve recently hit a wall. We have 7 events scheduled throughout the season and we have 6 sponsors. I would like for sponsors to get 3 free tickets for each event, or if that’s too complex each sponsor could be granted 21 free tickets to use as they like throughout the year.
I have tried setting this up a few different ways but they all seem to fail. For instance, if I add 3 tickets to the cart for an event and apply the coupon code (product based, 100% discount) then the total becomes 0, but the coupon is marked as only having been used one time instead of three.
I can’t seem to find a way around this. Can someone help?

MemberHmm, it may actually be better to ask the on the WooCommerce forums as this sounds less like a ticket-based problem (though that is of course the context which applies in your scenario) and is more a general problem with coupons/discounts that would occur if multiples of any product were added to the cart.
Have you found it isn’t possible to set up a coupon for ticket from each event and apply a usage restriction?

ParticipantI agree with you and I did ask there, they sent me back to you guys. I pointed out to them that is DOES seem like a coupon issue and not a ticket one and they have not responded.
What you’re describing is exactly what I did, the problem is that a person could add 100 tickets to their cart and it would only count as a single coupon use. Which, to be fair, is how coupons usually work. Is there a different way to go about comping a set number of tickets per person per event?

Yeah unfortunately these things can happen, particularly when the question relates in some way to another plugin.
Often it can be worth confirming for yourself with a quick test or two that it happens with regular products – ie, it is completely unrelated to ticketing – and then approach the ecommerce team for support on that basis (as that effectively takes the ticketing solution out of the equation and focuses in on the underlying problem).

But can you simply issue one coupon per sponsor with a constraint of three purchases and explain to each sponsor they’ll need to order their complementary seats in a single purchase, or else create three coupons per sponsor each with a contraint of one purchasable item?
Alternatively, you could always just ask them to email you/someone on your team and put the order through manually.
Are any of those viable?

ParticipantUnfortunately they don’t provide support unless you buy something FROM them. So even though I purchased a plugin, it doesn’t count. I appreciate the support you guys are giving. It’s very helpful.
Your first suggestion I think is what we’ll end up doing. Create a single use coupon with a price maximum (the cost of three tickets), send one to each sponsor. It’s not the most elegant solution, but it will get the job done.
Thank you for you help!

MemberOur pleasure, I wish we could do a little more but it sounds like you’ve got a functional solution/workaround there so hopefully that suffices.
One thing to note – you may already be aware of this, but just in case you aren’t – is that as with all plugins distributed on wordpress.org there is a community forum: the Woo team may or may not deliver hands-on support there, but it could be worth posing questions anyway as there is a large user base and others may know a few helpful tips and techniques that could be of interest.
Last but not least, if you have a moment to spare we’d love to hear your thoughts on The Events Calendar over on our plugin review page – any and all feedback is welcome 🙂
At any rate, I wish you luck with the coupons and if we can help with anything else please don’t hesitate to create new threads as required.
Thanks again!
