    Is there any way to display a “sales window currently closed” message for an event? We have a non-profit group and we have events we know about in advance, but cannot put tickets on sale that far in advance of the actual event. In addition, because they are food-based and require headcount and ingredient ordering, we have to close the sales window about a week prior to the actual event, whether or not the tickets sold out. During this before and after time, there’s no way for people to see any message that the tickets will be forthcoming or have been closed (short of us manually going in and posting this message, which is problematic — most of our staff are not very web savvy, and the one who is is already overburdened; we are a volunteer group).

    Is there a code snippet that allows us to replace the ticket purchase block with a “sales window closed” message when we are not in the active sales window period?

    Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!

    Great question you have there, let me help you with that.

    With some custom development you should be able to show for an event whether tickets are on sale or not at the moment.

    For this you will  need to create a template override. You can read more about this in our Themer’s Guide.

    Depending where you want to show the message you will need to create an override for the single event page and / or the list view.

    You can use the tribe_events_has_tickets_on_sale() function to determine whether tickets are on sale or not and show a message based on that.
