ParticipantHi there
I’m noticing an issue with ticket numbers vis-a-vis their corresponding order.
Let’s say that a customer adds a ticket to their cart then checks out.
Then when payment is received, the status is marked as complete and tickets are sent.
However the ticket number generated is now higher by one than the order that gave rise to the ticket. Order #X generates Ticket #X+1.
This is confusing to customers as they receive an email saying Order #X is being processed, then they receive another email containing Ticket #X+1. This has led to customers thinking they’ve been charged twice as the ticket number does not match the order number.
Any clues on how best to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

ParticipantI’ve realised, after looking at the Attendees List that this is probably the desired behaviour, that there is not meant to be a direct correspondence between an order and it’s associated ticket number.
I suppose I can live with that and that it’s just a matter of letting people know if they query this…

MemberExactly. The ticket and order numbers are both simply post IDs, which are allocated incrementally as new posts are added to the database (tickets and orders both being a form of post).
I don’t recall anyone mentioning this as a concern before, though I appreciate it could be in your case. There are numerous ways you might communicate information to allay any customer concerns, however I’d need to leave it to you to figure out what would work best in your case.
Certainly if you need to customize some element of WooTickets or The Events Calendar to do this and need a pointer to get you heading in the right direction at that point then do let us know 🙂

ParticipantNow that I understand that’s what’s meant to happen, it’s fine I think. I have one concern which is that here in Australia, the Tax Office requires business to offer sequential invoices, and our “completed order” email from WooCommerce is effectively our tax invoice to our customer. So it just means that we aren’t really issuing invoices in sequential order, we have Invoice #1, #3 #5 etc as tickets are issued and other wordpress posts are made.
I realise this is a wordpress issue but this plugin might help me: http://www.woothemes.com/products/sequential-order-numbers-pro/

MemberI wasn’t aware of that.
Yes that plugin may be useful and it would be interesting to hear back from you on that count in case it helps other users.
Without wanting to sound like we are passing the buck this is however more of a WooCommerce issue (if this is something that businesses in Australia require) and – I guess this is what that plugin you referenced adds – the ability to mask the post IDs and use a different numbering scheme for orders would properly be solved at that level, not by changing the operation of either WooCommerce Tickets or WordPress itself.
