GuestHiya –
Is it possible/in the works for this to be a platform for ticket exchanges for a given event? Two quick stories to explain what I mean: the Timbers Army sections of Jeld-Wen Field are general admission. There is a very face-value fan culture built into the Army sections, and the most common ticket-swapping stuff is either like-kind exchanges (“I’ll trade two San Jose for two Chivas”) or “I’m selling these tickets for face+fees.” In both cases, it would be lovely to have a clearinghouse for such offers/needs/wants. Right now it’s kinda quasi-handled on Facebook and Twitter, but that’s dumb. I don’t need fully-featured “make your own craigslist” stuff, just the ability to say “I have four tickets in the TA for [Event Calendar entry] that I will exchange for [whatever] or [another thing].”Similar circumstance: parents of kids in the School of Oregon Ballet Theater have to buy Nutcracker tickets well before the know what performances their kid is in. The default plan, it seems, is to buy two or more performances and then either exchange or sell the spares. That is often not as great as it sounds – maybe you have family coming in and need three more for a night your kid is dancing. You have yours, but wouldn’t it be lovely to swap with someone who’s facing a similar dilemma?
Handling it in the comments to an event entry is just as lame as fb/Twitter/blog posts about available tickets, etc. I’d really like something that just did this.
I have halfway talked myself into giving up and writing it myself (lulz), but found Event Calendar and thought I’d ask.
Huggles!

MemberHey JP,
First, let me just say how entertained I am to be answering a question from a fellow Portlander! I am familiar with the dedication of the Timbers Army 🙂
We do not have a ticket exchange system or something similar built into the Events Calendar or either of our ticketing plugins (WooTickets and Eventbrite Tickets). However, it may be possible to achieve something like this using the software behind our plugin- that is, either WooCommerce or Eventbrite. I recommend that you explore the options available to you on those ticketing frameworks to see if you could integrate either with your calendar via one of our add-ons.
If you have any further questions or want clarification, don’t hesitate to post here, or on one of our premium plugins if you purchase a plugin license.
Cheers,
