This Week Widget Show Categories and/or Description

I am looking to add categories and/or descriptions to the “This Week” widget as it’s implemented here. Is there a way to add these? The ideal scenario would be to have events displayed and sorted by day>category>event.

I use the wordpress.com settings – so I am unsure how to go into the code itself to make php changes.

Another great option would be to have featured events highlighted in this widget just like they’re highlighted in the normal calendar views.

Thanks so much for reaching out again!

The page you linked to returns a 404 error, so I was unable to see the example that you were providing.

If you have another example of what you are referring to, that would be great.

In any case, we are limited by our Support Policy in how much we can help with customizations, but I will try to point you in the right direction.

I’d recommend starting off by taking a look at our Themer’s Guide, which can show you which templates can be edited and copied in order to achieve the results that you are looking for.

That’s my fault, I went and changed the url while the ticket was out. The proper site is here:

I suppose one issue I’m having is that it’s difficult to translate the folders you’ve given to ways to customize from within WordPress.com. One option I suppose is to download the files, edit them, and upload the plugin?

I’d recommend starting off by taking a look at our Themer’s Guide, which can show you which templates can be edited and copied in order to achieve the results that you are looking for.

The template that you’ll want to look for is widgets/this-week-widget.php.
