Theme shortcodes now visible after recent update

After the most recent update to the Events Calendar Pro plug-in, new items added to the calendar are displaying inserted Theme shortcode items as text. Older calendar items (created before the update) with inserted Theme shortcodes do not display those types of items, just the newly added calendar events.

We use the Enfold WP Theme.

Any assistance with solving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for going Pro and for reaching out!

So if I understand correctly, in the event descriptions you are adding shortcodes from the Enfold theme. With events created earlier this was fine, but newly created events show the shortcode and not the expected content. Did I get that right?

As a first I would check in the event description whether the shortcodes are put in properly. Switch the editor window to text mode and check if the shortcode is proper there, plus check if you are using straight quotes vs. curly ones. Usually only the straight quotes work.

I’ve tried it a dozen different ways to put it in and nothing seems to make any difference.

If you go to the Events tab of our website (https://www.nehca.org) and then scroll to Feb 22nd and March 1st, you will see an example of one that was put in before and a new one.

<u>PRE-REGISTRATION</u> <u>is encouraged</u>. Registration at the door will be accepted only if space permits.  Registrants are billed as soon as a registration is received by NNFA. If an invoice is not received within three business days, please call 402-435-3551 to confirm that the registration was received by the NNFA office.

SUBSTITUTIONS are accepted until the event begins. Substitutions are not possible once the event has started.

CANCELLATIONS – There will be NO REFUNDS for cancellations within 2 business days of the event. Cancellations must be received in the NNFA/NALA office within that time frame, except in the case of a death in the registrant’s immediate family – mother, father, husband, wife, brother, sister, or child.

REFUNDS – Registration fees will be credited/refunded minus a $15 per person per day SERVICE CHARGE for cancellations received in the NNFA/NALA office by the close of business on or before the above cancellation date.

If attendance at an education event is interrupted by a State survey or inspection, a registration refund can be issued for the unused portion of the event.  If you are unable to attend an event because of survey or inspection, a full refund can be issued.  Written requests for refunds due to survey/inspection and written proof of the survey/inspection are required within 30 days of the education event’s start date.

Hi TJ,

I checked your site and I think I know what the issue is.

The description of the event is cut at a certain number of characters, and where you see the shortcode, well, the shortcode is cut in half so it doesn’t work as a shortcode any more.

A workaround would be to use the excerpt field of the events, possibly without any shortcodes.

Would that solve it for you?
