ParticipantI have set the “Default status for submitted events” as “published.” In other words they should be automatically published when submitted by community members (I do the vetting when I give them an account, then I do not want to have to approve their submissions).
Regardless, when I test I find that events submitted by Organizers are set by default to “pending” and require me, as admin, to publish them.
Can you shed some insight on this?
Thanks!

KeymasterHi Josh,
Thanks for reaching out, I hope you’re doing well.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue. So, in order to find the problem I want to ask you a couple questions:
- Is this something you’ve changed recently? Was this something that was working on the site before and suddenly stopped working or it’s a new site?
- Do you have any active plugin for user roles and publish settings?
- Did you get a success message when updating the settings for the community plugin?
- Would you be so kind to share a screenshot of the entire settings page for community events? I’m really interested to see the values for the rest of the fields.
Thank you very much,
Juan.

ParticipantHi Juan
Thanks for looking at this. I just bought the Community plugin so this is new to me. I don’t have other plugins that manage publish settings as far as I can tell. I’m including a screenshot of my plugins page and community settings page so you can take a look.
When I submit changes to Community Settings I do get the “Settings Saved” message.
I would also make you an admin account if you want to log in and test.
Thanks

KeymasterHey Josh,
Thanks for the follow-up, and thank you for sharing the screenshots with me. Unfortunately, and according to our terms & conditions, we cannot login to your website.
I’ve tried to reproduce the issue by creating a totally new site with just The Events Calendar, and the Community plugin working, with the same configuration you have shared with me, and I also got it working as expected, having the events submitted and then being published. You mentioned while creating the ticket that you tried deactivating all the plugins and tested that this continued happening, is that correct?
I wanted to ask you what is that you use to “approve” your community members and what user role do they get assigned?
Thank you,
Juan.

ParticipantHi Juan
I created the users using the Admin dashboard and then just sent them their login credentials.
They have been assigned as “organizers”. As a test I also made one a “subscriber”, and also a “contributor.” Should they be assigned a different role?
I can confirm I deactivated all plugins except for the events calendar and the community events plugins.
Thanks

KeymasterHi Josh,
Thank you very much for the follow-up.
I was asking mainly to check if perhaps you were using some other tool to authorize them and then they ended up having some strange role. But the ones you mentioned should work.
I’m still trying to reproduce the issue with no success.
Have you changed the theme to a default theme like twentyseventeen or twentysixteen?
Thank you,
Juan.
