You see many events that are quite long in terms of content. Is there a way to reduce and possibly work with a ‘read more’?Thanks!

MemberSlick looking site, Filip! If you share it in the “Showcase” thread it’d probably get seen by a whole bunch more folks: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/showcase-2-0/.
To answer your question here…have you tried using either the “Excerpt” field on the events creation page, or just the “Read More” link option from within the visual editor? If I understand your issue here then it sounds like one of those would be the most straightforward solution. Let me know if that doesn’t do the trick or if I’ve misunderstood your request here. Thanks!

MemberHi,
The ‘read more’ link option, we know. What do you mean with ‘Excerpt”?
We use temporarily the gravity forms until yours is ready end of the month.Filip

MemberHey Filip. There should be an “Excerpt” box at the bottom of the event creation page on your site’s backend (may require you to enable under Screen Options though). If you put what you want “before the jump” in the excerpt field it will automatically create a read more/continued reading link for you.
Hope that helps! Let me know if not.

MemberHi Rob,
Can this be automated after for example a number of characters?
Maybe a idea for the ‘Community Events’… Users fill in at the frontend and only the first 150 characters are shown, rest after the ‘read more’.This is a great idea! 🙂
Hope ‘Community Events’ has this option to set.It it possible for a sreenshot of the Excerpt” box at the bottom of the event creation page? Can’t seem to find it.
Thanks!

MemberThat’s a solid idea, Filip. While we’re in a feature freeze for the initial 1.0 Community release, I’m compiling requests for future builds and can definitely see the value here. I’ve added this to my list accordingly. Thanks for the tip.
Regarding the Excerpt box. Here’s how it shows up on my site: http://cl.ly/2x1o3J093z1U2B2M2i1T. You may need to reveal it under Screen Options at the top of the page though.
That help?
