ParticipantHi
Our site is behind the great firewall of China. I’m not sure if you know what that means to us that are here, but basically it pauses any callout to Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube… anything that is blocked, and makes a decision on what to do. The call will either be let through or blocked. This slows us down a whole lot.
We love Events Pro and want to start using some of the modules but we need to resolve this issue.
Issue 1: Google Maps. This appears to be default. Sometimes the firewall lets you through for a map, sometimes it doesn’t. Is there an alternative that can be used? If so, is it possible to swap it out for Google Maps?
Issue 2: Social Media. I see in the User forms I am able to hide the display to these options easily and just need to maintain this during the updates. I’m concerned I may have missed something that can cause issues, for example, an Array variable with missing vars that sql will be looking for when reading/writing to the database. I want to keep the feature for the user to get gCal and iCal data but need to remove anything that requires or lets a user callout to most social media – LinkedIn has no problems and we would like to keep it available. If one of our users clicks a link to FB, they are at high risk of acquiring a viral redirect.
Issue 3: Cross functionality with other plugins. Will correcting any of the above cause an issue with other WP Plugins like Simple:Press?
All assistance in this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

MemberHi,
I can help out here and have answered your questions below.
Google Maps
Google Maps is the only service we provide. You can hide the map view and disable all the maps in the single templates and add your own, but we have no alternate map feature. You can do these edits following our themer’s guide:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/
Social Media
We do not connect to any social media service from our plugins, besides using the Facebook Importer, which is its own plugin and not included in Pro.All social media sharing links would be done by another plugin.
The gCal and iCal Buttons simply create buttons, but do not call a service on creation. The ical button creates a button to download from your site. The gCal button does connect with Google Calendar on clicked, but that is intended as it would not work otherwise.
3rd Party Conflicts
We code our plugin using the best practices from WordPress, although issues can still arise with other plugins and themes. We do not have a list of compatible plugins and we are limited on supporting 3rd party plugins.Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks
