ParticipantHi there,
I’m not exactly a WordPress expert or anything, so bear with me.
Anyway, I downloaded and paid for both this Events Calendar Pro Plugin, which worked wonders, and later on, the Justified Image Grid premium plugin from envato, and I would very much like to keep using both, particularly since I paid for both. However, activating these plugins at the same time seems to crash my dashboard entirely. From there, all I get is a blank white screen in my browser when I try to access anything under the admin options. I’ve at least rooted the issue to these two plugins, since when I delete either of the two plugins from my wp-content files through my BlueHost control panels, the dashboard works properly again. The problem only seems to occur when they are activated at the same time. Of note: the plugin that causes the problem seems to be “The Events Calendar” as opposed to “The Events Calendar Pro.” However, wordpress also will not let me utilize the Events Calendar Pro unless The Events Calendar is also active.
I have tried both uploading these plugin through the internal WordPress admin module as well as uploading through my BlueHost control panel manually. Each time, I encountered this same issue. And since all I get is empty white space, I’m not sure how to check into what kind of issues are being created. Support for Justified Image Grid was quite helpful in this regard, and that’s how we were able to narrow down the issue to some conflict between the Justified Image Grid plugin and The Events Calendar in the first place.
Clearly, there is some kind of conflict occurring and I don’t know what that could be. Any help would be appreciated. This plugin seems to be exactly what I need and I’d rather not have to push anyone’s buttons for a refund.
Here is a link to my site (currently incomplete, as one can tell): http://www.brad-baron.com/
The theme is the BBQ theme also purchased through this site with ThemeForest.
Thanks for the help in advance.-Brad

MemberHi Brad, that doesn’t sound good.
Ideally we’d get a sense for why these two plugins are colliding in the first place and then take things from there: based on your initial post it sounds like you are fairly comfortable with accessing the files in your WP installation via your hosting control panel – and this suggestion will rest on that – but if you feel uncomfortable doing this then let me know and we can consider other options.
So, please locate wp-config.php. Normally it is at the same level as WordPress itself (so if WP is installed in the webroot – something like /home/public_html/ – then you will find wp-config.php at /home/public_html/wp-config.php).
Open that up for editing and find the following line:
define('WP_DEBUG', false);Change this to:
define('WP_DEBUG', true); Then set about replicating the original problem. You may find that this exposes all sorts of different warnings and notices that are normally hidden, many of which may have nothing to do with this problem – so the idea would be to get to the point where both plugins are enabled and the dashboard “crashes” and take note of any errors that display at that point.
Fatal errors (and they will be labeled as such) are of particular interest.
With that done, change the WP_DEBUG setting back to its original value and post your results here and I’ll take a look 🙂

MemberWe’re inclined not to do that unless absolutely necessary – and so long as you keep a copy of wp-config.php (so you can restore it should you make a mistake when altering that setting – and, of course, remember that backing up regularly and before troubleshooting sessions is always a good idea) there isn’t too much that can go wrong, particularly as it sounds like you already have a good handle on how to basically isolate the source of the problem, in this case down to a clash with another plugin 🙂
Do you think you’ll be able to give it a go?

ParticipantHey Barry!
Did what you said, and the following error message came up in place of the blank page. Just to preface. I took a while to do this simply because I wanted to edit something else on my website first. After that, I did the following. First activated the Justified Image Grid plugin. That plugin activated fine and nothing crashed. Smooth sailing. I activated The Events Calendar after that, and got the blank screen. Changed the debug status to True and got the following message:
” Notice: wp_register_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or init hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /home3/bradbaro/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2959
Notice: Use of undefined constant E_DEPRECATED – assumed ‘E_DEPRECATED’ in /home3/bradbaro/public_html/wp-content/plugins/youtube-channel/youtube-channel.php on line 10 ”
What that all means, I have no idea! 🙂
I think I’m done editing for the night, so I’ll leave both the plugins in question activated and installed for now. But I changing the debug status back to false just in case.
Let me know your thoughts and thanks!
-Brad

MemberHmm, well unfortunately neither of those are hugely helpful by themselves. Can you send across a copy of the plugin and a note of any configuration details I would need to know?

MemberHi Brad, I’m very sorry that this slipped through and I didn’t get back to you. I hope you’ll accept our apologies, this was completely unintentional and we would still be happy to help if you still need us to.
I appreciate in the intervening period you may have moved on/found your own solution, if so just let me know, otherwise we will see what we can do.
Apologies once more – completely my fault 🙂
