Is it possible to segment tags from other post types in your filters? We have a heavily tagged blog, and it creates a long list of tags. It would be nice to display a list of tags only related to events.

I don’t think that would be readily possible, unfortunately, at least not in an efficient manner – if you need clean separation between the two, registering and using a separate tag-like taxonomy for events is probably the way to go.

Thanks for the response Barry. So if I set up custom taxonomies for Events, can I have it show up in the filter bar, and effectively replacing tags for the end user?

Potentially you could, yes, though you’d need to be comfortable developing for WordPress generally to tackle something like that.
