We have the events calendar and a blog. I’m using tags on both. Is there a way to limit the tags to specific choices so that my blog tags don’t interfere with my calendar tags?
That is a great question. Tags are a default WordPress functionality, so they’re going to overlap between any and all post types that have activated them. That said, you can use Event Categories on events instead of Tags to prevent that overlap.
Does this makes sense and will it work for you? Please let me know. 🙂
Interesting. Is there a way to have split tags up? Basically, we have a franchise situation. We have locations with sub-categories that need to be broken apart. Is there any way to do this?
One option you could consider is deactivating Tags from default WordPress posts. That would isolate them for use with Events. I found an example on Stack Overflow that might help.
Another option is to create a new taxonomy and use it only for Events. There’s a plugin that makes creating new taxonomies pretty simple and manage.
Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
