Tag archive that shows as calendar view

Hi, i just started using this plugin and my experience has been positive, so first of all i would like to say thanks for the great work!

I was a bit surprised however when I saw that the Tags you can apply to Events are linked to the standard Post Tags, and as a result viewing a Tag archive doesn’t present the calendar view (as viewing an Event Category archive does). Is there any plan to change the way Tags are defined, so that they appear more like the Event Category archive does?

Also, my needs in this case essentially boiled down to just requiring a mini-calendar view. Our client has minimal requirements for their events, since their intent is to simply display basic event information along with a link to an external URL (The event’s homepage or booking etc).

As a result, the features provided are mostly overkill, and so i would have appreciated the ability to disable the various panels when creating an event – pretty much all of them in this case! Is there any plan to introduce that ability?

Glad it’s been a good experience so far 🙂

Use of regular post tags rather than a new event tag taxonomy was a conscious decision and there are no plans at this time to revise that … however, we’re always open to feedback and if you wanted to post a request along the lines of either changing this or supplementing it with an additional event-specific taxonomy (“event tags” in this case) we’d certainly consider it, particularly if it gained traction with other members of the community.

Another thought is that our Filter Bar plugin – which would allow you to view the calendar and constrain it to events with a specific tag – could be useful to you here?
