System Resources and Site Speed

Posted this on the WP forum, but no replies.

We are looking for a replacement calendar for a new WP site. I’m not going to get into naming names, but the existing calendar we have (which looks great and functions on the surface as I expect) absolutely kills the system resources on the VM I have it hosted on.

It eats the CPU causing critical load issues, slowing down the site and everything else I have on that VM. A new version is suppose to be in the works that fixes the resource hog, but nothing yet.

How does this plug-in rate in resources and performance? Anyone who has it in production, can you give any feedback?

It seems like this (or most likely, the Pro version) would be a good replacement for what we have now.

Sorry that you didn’t get a reply on the WP forum, but we try to make it clear that our support there is very limited – only 2 hours per week. If there’s any way that we could communicate that better, please let me know.

To answer your question about resources and performance, like everything, the answer is… it depends. Hosting setups as well as the theme and other plugins can all play into that. But I’ll just give you a link to an existing user’s install and let you see what you think. http://events.boisestate.edu/events/2014-01/ There’s nothing special about that site, it’s just the most recent one I went to, so I’m considering it a proxy for “average”.

Do you have a specific concern that I can address?
