ParticipantHello,
I am using the “NEAR” search property. If I type “SYDNEY” and hit Enter, the location “Sydney NSW, Australia” shows up successfully. The thing is, SYDNEY covers a huge expanse of area. I need to be able to type a suburb name instead such as “PYRMONT”. However, this doesn’t seem to work.
Is there a way to make the “NEAR” search property more refined so it goes down to the Suburb level and not just Greater City wide?
Thank you,

MemberHi Martin,
We’re limited to an extent by the Google Geolocation API here – however if you want to propose some ideas that might make these sorts of searches better in future releases we’re definitely open to any feature requests you might post 🙂
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Barry,
Thank you for your answer.
I bought the plugin yesterday assuming it would do this. I can see AirBNB can do exactly what I want, and it’s powered by Google API. If you go to http://www.airbnb.com and type “pyr” and wait a second, “Pyrmont New South Wales, Australia” appears in the dropdown. If AirBNB can do it, which uses Google API, then can Events Calendar Pro?

MemberOK – so can you clarify what are you actually experiencing that isn’t meeting your needs?
For instance, if I type Pyrmont into the location (“Near”) field in the context of map view then a test event at a venue I created (which is in Harris St, Sydney – but doesn’t include the term “Pyrmont” in the actual address data I entered) is returned among the results. Can you link to a venue in Pyrmont on your site with upcoming events, that isn’t returned in the result set when you search for Pyrmont in the Near field?

ParticipantHi Barry.
You’re right. If I ignore the fact what I type doesn’t appear in the “Near” dropdown box in realtime, it works great. I can type a suburb name which is a few miles away from “Pyrmont” and the event appears along with how many miles away the event is. That’s really great. It would be good if the “Near” dropdown box updated in realtime like AirBNB, but otherwise the geo-location search is working well. I’ll add the realtime location dropdown to your “Feature Requests” list.
Thanks for your help,
