GuestHi, I’m wondering about support for microdata with the Events Calendar plugin. On the wordpress.org page for the free version, it does actually list microdata support – but after installing it I noticed isn’t outputting anything (nor can I see any mention of ‘itemprop’ or ‘itemscope’ in the source files) Is this functionality in the pro version of the plugin only or has it been removed from the plugin altogether.

GuestBy the way I’ll happily buy the full version if you can confirm it has schema markup. I’m just a bit concerned I will purchase it and find it doesn’t. The post linked below states that even the free version has it, but that appears to be incorrect…

ParticipantHi Seb,
Thanks for taking a look at our calendar plugins. While it’s a little thing, the wordpress.org page actually refers to microformats. I’m not spotting a reference to microdata. Same is true of the other thread that you linked to. Minor difference perhaps, but I’m not sure it’s going to have the exact schema you are looking for.
You mentioned that you did take a look at the source files. Just thought I’d also point out our demo site over at http://wpshindig.com/events/ in case you weren’t aware of that. I’m not sure which source files you were referring to, but you can always View Source on those pages to see what’s up.
If I’m wrong, and I could be, or if you need any more information, please let me know.

ParticipantI’m missing the answer. What I thought he meant was seeing the microdata in page source. for instance I see the following for

EVENTS
Independent news and opinion for Contra Costa CountyHome | National End The Fed Day<img class="tribe-events-spinner-medium" src="http://h2c.worldview.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/plugins/the-eventsWouldn't it be better if there was away to have default itemtype be
itemtype="http://schema.org/Event"
instead of
itemtype="http://schema.org/CreativeWork"as well as map startdate, venue,location, description from the TECpro fields to appropriate a template for itemtypse and itemprops provided by schema?

MemberHi Bill,
First off a quick note that – unfortunately – posting code, particularly HTML or anything else containing <angle brackets> is prone to be wiped out or distorted and it does indeed look like that has happened with your example code. We do hope to address this in the future, but for now I’d recommend sharing even short snippets via a service such as Pastebin or Gist.

Sure, I believe that is what he meant – but what we’re explaining is our plugin does not generate this. Definitely a worthy feature request, though, if you want to make one: if so, please post it on our UserVoice page (or lend your voice to any suitable existing requests and add your support that way) š
An event-related microformat on the other hand is supported, though strictly speaking and within this context that is not the actually the same as the microdata schemas Seb and yourself are enquiring about.
Does that clarify things at all?
