ParticipantHi!
I was working with Nico on this thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/missing-scheduled-imports-tabI had to stop working on it for a while and now I’m back. The thread is closed so I’d like to see if I can get Nico assigned to this one.
I have implemented the code snippet he graciously put together for me and I think I’m very close to making it work. I’m getting a Aggregator Import records being inserted (I can see them in the Events Import > History tab) but it seems like I’m missing something to make the import actually run. It may be something simple.
Here’s a screenshot of the import history
http://screencast.com/t/3GMBfbQI0nI can give specific details on how I have it all set up. Thanks! Rodrigo

ParticipantHey Rodrigo,
Thanks for reaching out!
As Nico wrote in that thread, the custom code we provided is intended to be a starting point, not as a final solution.
We actually cannot provide any assistance with custom coding, as described here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/what-support-is-provided-for-license-holders/
As you can see from your last thread, we certainly try to get folks started on customization projects, but you’ll have to take the reins on all further aspects of this customization from here.
The code Nico provided does not add buttons to trigger the import manually, etc.—it’s just the basic code to process a CSV file in your Media Library.
If you want further assistance with any custom coding projects on your site, your best bet is to work with a professional developer to assist you. We have a list of great developers here → http://m.tri.be/18k1 (and have no affiliation with any of these folks—they’re simply some well-respected names in the community that we’ve compiled to share in situations like this one).
Sorry to disappoint, but I hope the initial code Nico shared with you did its job as giving you a good starting place that you can take from here and see to completion.
Cheers,

ParticipantOk, gotcha.
One last thing:
I thought the Aggregator chron job tribe_aggregator_cron which I can see is firing every 15 minutes would be triggering the imports I’ve set up (that show in the history tab with a clock next to them). I’m thinking that aggregator chron is ignoring them because they are type csv. If that’s the case then there’s no way to customize without getting into the guts of your code, which I am trying to avoid so that I don’t have problems with upgrades.December 14, 2016 at 8:31 am #1205855George
ParticipantHey Rodrigo,
Thanks for your followup.
1. When it comes to scheduled imports, as Nico shared in the last thread, “Unfortunately scheduled nor URL imports are not available for CSV imports.”
2. So, yes, to modify this fact in any way—in other words, to try and make CSV imports happen on a cron schedule or via URL—will require much customization in the guts of the code. This will create problems with upgrades and make it so that, with each update of The Events Calendar, you have to re-implement your customizations.
I’m sorry to bear this news! Customizations are complex and require maintenance over time, which is one part of the reasons why we don’t support them.
Please let me know if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with.
Sincerely,
GeorgeDecember 14, 2016 at 2:16 pm #1206160Rodrigo Torres
ParticipantThank you for clarifying George!
FYI, I thought that “customize” meant code I would need to write outside of TEC.
Also, I have been working with one of the developers listed at http://m.tri.be/18k1 so I know I’m not alone in my confusion.
Also, you might want to update your marketing materials to specify that CSV cannot be scheduled, since as you can see from this screenshot, it’s easy to think that it is, and to prevent others from going down this road.December 15, 2016 at 9:50 pm #1206924Cliff
MemberRodrigo, George is out for a few days for vacation so I’ll handle this thread going forward.
I’ll pass along your suggestion to management, regarding CSV scheduled importing being unavailable.
Is there anything more we can help you with here?

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
