    Hello,

My client has added some long-term events to their calendar. The idea is that these campaigns never end, and some of them started many years ago. The only issue is that these generally don’t display on the first page of the calendar’s Photo view if they started a while ago. They can make them sticky, in which case they stay at the top left of photo view, but they only seem to be able to do this with one event. They would also prefer to show these sticky events further down the page if possible – they would like to display them on the first page (currently they are displayed on page two or three) but at the bottom, not the top.

I have a few questions around this:

    1) Can events be perpetual, with no end date?
    2) Can we have more than one sticky event?
    3) Is there any way to make events show up on the first page of Photo view but without using sticking them to the top left?

One idea is to create a special category (called ‘Long-term campaigns’ or something like that) and remove these from the Photo view, and then display them underneath the Photo view in a separate section. Is that possible?

    Hi Raymond,

Thanks so much for reaching out again!

    1) Can events be perpetual, with no end date?

Yes, you can create recurring events that recur indefinitely.  If you have further questions about this issue, you can send me a screenshot of how you have things set up on the back-end so I can better understand what you’re working with.

    2) Can we have more than one sticky event?

Yes, you can create multiple sticky events.  These events will show up on top of the block of events in Month View.  You can alternatively mark events as Featured Events, which will be highlighted on views and widgets.

    3) Is there any way to make events show up on the first page of Photo view but without using sticking them to the top left?

There isn’t an easy way to make events stand out, without choosing them as Sticky Events or Featured Events (which will just highlight them, and not put them on the front page).  You can create a separate category page for these events, as you mentioned.  You can choose to hide those events from event listings, and only display them on the category page.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this topic!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi Jaime,

Thanks for the update. I think that answers most of my questions. However, I’m not sure on the recurring event – this isn’t really for a ‘daily’ event, but more for a campaign that is on indefinitely, so I’m not sure a recurring event is the right thing to use here. It would be ideal if we could set something up that simply has no end date, rather than an infinite series of daily events. Does that make sense? If so, is that something that’s possible with the Events Calendar/Pro?

    Hi Raymond,

In other words, you’d like to set up a single event with no end date?  Unfortunately, you can’t really set up something that way.  If you don’t set up an end-date, it will pre-populate that field with the same date as the start date.

You can do something like the following, where you set up an all-day event that recurs every day, and never ends:

Let me know if that helps answer your question!

    Thanks,

    Jaime
