ParticipantHello,
I’m having a problem with some recurring events not properly saving — sort of. Here is the scenario:
- Add some recurring events, save. Everything looks normal.
- Add some more recurring events, save. Usually this looks normal, too.
- Make another change to the event and save again. Some recurring events disappear from the front-end.
What’s interesting is on the backend, the events that no longer show on the front-end no longer have the “Show Details” option at this point. A screenshot of that is attached. If I delete them and re-add, they show again, but the problem comes back.
To me it seems like a memory issue, but I have WP_DEBUG_LOG set to true and get no errors related to this in the logs. It also happens in a local dev environment and on WP Engine (memory limit set to 512MB).
Is this a known issue by chance? Is there any workaround?
We have to add a large number of recurring events as ‘Once’ because the start times stagger day-to-day for the same event. What’s pictured in this screenshot is probably only about 1/10th of what will be needed.
As a side note, we’re using Events Calendar Pro under a client’s license key. I’ve included the staging site here, but it’s in development so I can’t open it up for the world. It’s hard to duplicate on the front-end anyway.
Thanks,
Tim

ParticipantI wanted to add one more bit of detail to this ticket. I noticed that even after deleting the recurring events from the above screenshot, moving on and making other changes, some other events disappeared from the front-end and stopped working correctly in the back-end.
If you look at the attached screenshots, there are 3 at the bottom that no longer have “Show Details.” These events had saved fine several times this morning, so the problem seems to be somewhat random. I just happened to remove some other meta data from this event, saved, and they stopped working.
Thanks,
Tim

MemberHi Tim!
Thanks for taking the time to report this.
Unfortunately, what you are experiencing is an issue we are already aware of and it’s only happening when using the “Once” rule.
The good news is that our developers are already working on a fix.
As a workaround for the “Show details” not showing up, you can click the “Once” rule again to make it show up. I know that some users event found doing this would generate all the instances correctly, but it may not be the same for every situation.
I will set this thread’s status to “Pending fix” and link it to the report. This way, we will notify you once a fix is released in one of our next maintenance releases of our plugins.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience while we work on this.

As always, we suggest to setup a dev/staging site so you can make all plugin updates without disrupting the live site.
Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for your site.
