Some questions regarding recurring events & locations

Hi there,

I just have some pre-sales questions regarding recurring events — we have a client that does recurring events on a weekly basis. It is not required that we publish a recurring event page for each event. 4 events for a particular month can all point to the same event page for a particular event at location ‘x’. All events for location ‘y’ can point to a page for event ‘y’ — will it be possible to do this with ECP? Do we just publish one event and tell the calendar that this event recurs 4 times a month and that then points (by the URL) to the original event when it was created?

Does ECP also make provision for locations or do we need to make provision for that in a custome taxonomy/custom post type?

I can answers your questions.

Our recurring events create an event for each event in the series. That is not changeable. Each event in the series is tied to a specific venue and all events in the series either have the same venue or no venue.

So for our plugin it is not possible to point the later recurring events to a central event as you describe.

Thank you for your answer — would it be possible to manually update a link for a specific event? Let me explain a bit further:

We have a client that holds an auction every Wednesday — 95% of the time this event has the same starting time, event structure (program) & venue. It seems a bit superfluous to create an event for each of these whilst it is held at the same venue with the same structure (program). Is there any other way that the plugin can accommodate this or that a future update will accommodate this? I am also just worried about duplicate content here. whilst we can certainly work around this it is not ideal.

What you are asking is possible only through a customization and that is beyond the support we can provide.
