localtime
ParticipantHello,
I already purchased your product for testing. I´m still not sure which product I should go with. I´m comparing it to the events manager. For the moment the setup of the events calendar and its team seems more professional to me. but now I´m comparing the functionality. And I´m wondering why the longitude and latitude are not used in the community events to exactly define a position. In the events manager I was able to implement a map with a marker to drag, because there might be events without proper address. I would like to keep this feature, but it seems that this is not easy to implement into community events (I read a helpt desk post about this). I wonder how the locality search can work properly without the longitude and latitude, is it not very buggy without it?
– how is the distance search performed technically, is it by the address or by lat/lng?
– Another questions is if it possible to customize the plugin, so that events without end-dates are possible. I´m wondering also why not any events calendar excpet for the eventOn does have this feature. It must happen often to have ongoing events without a certain end-date. Anyway, would it be possible with custom coding?
Thank you very much!January 9, 2018 at 2:04 pm #1421846Brendan
KeymasterHi There,
Thanks for email support.
That’s an awesome idea! I’m afraid it’s a little tougher to get the venue coordinates into the Community Events submission form than it might appear but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great idea for a feature request — I can actually see how that would make moderation easier for site admins when new events with new venues are submitted.
The distance search is performed by the address it finds on Google’s API.
In regards to end dates, here is a snippet you can use in this ticket: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/remove-end-time-for-events/
Thanks,
Brendan
