Hello,
We need to speed up our site as were experiencing sever slow page load times.Whilst I’m not a developer I’ve tried a couple of things.
1.) We are currently with TSOHOST on one of there wordpress £4/m packages, I’ve contacted their support and they say I need to reduce the number of requests I site has, i.e. the homepage has over 200, you can see the page load times are between 10-18 (Espeically in the evenings when traffic is at it’s peak
https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/bGy8VB/https://popupplayvillage.co.uk/events/
It sometimes returns a circa 4s page load time, which is ok, but would like to get it under 3 seconds… I suspect We’re on a shared server with many other customers and/or we may need to hire a developer to sort a few things out…2.) Someone I was speaking with recently cloned the site and put it with OVH, which seemed to perform much better at under 2 seconds at £10/m, however they are not as user friendly to manage a VPS, the company that approache me to perform is test is asking for £45 a month and they will manage on my behalf, so may be an option.
https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/dTjz0F/https://test1.speedpreview.co.uk/3.) We tried migrating to WPEngine however didn’t realize the speed benefits that OVH are producing in fact it was very similar to TSOHOST but at an increased cost per month.
Has anyone got any suggestions or recommendations and where to start?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for reaching out!
We are currently experiencing a high volume of threads and will get back to you shortly with a more substantial response if necessary.
In the meantime,
please have a look at our Performance Considerations and see if there is anything you can adjust in order to help your site run better:

After that, you may be interested in caching, so take a look at this article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-basics/
In addition, you can check out some of the solutions provided in this forum post:

I would also recommend looking into some of the plugins in this blog post, as they may be able to help you pinpoint where site slowness may be occurring:

Let me know how it goes and if you need any further assistance on this topic!

The links that Jaime pointed out are a great starting point for dealing with performance issues.
Additionally, let me share with you the following article about caching the month view in transients > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-month-view-transients/ that will be of good help if you’re dealing with too many events in one month.
One thing I noticed from your system information is that your site is running on PHP version 5.6. I would recommend switching to PHP version 7.0 or 7.1 which are the latest ones and show a significant improvement in server resources consumption compared to previous versions.
Please let me know how that goes and if you have further questions.
Best,
