Single Event with featured image on home page.

Hi, first of all I apologize if this question was asked before, but I looked around the forum and I couldn’t find anything. I know the plugin doesn’t have shortcodes which would be ideal in this case.

So here is what I want to do. On our site home page (http://victory.thefowlergroup.com/) we have 2 sections for events, one for upcoming and another for volunteer events. We would like to show the featured image and maybe the event title on both. And use categories or filters to assign which event should go on either section. Is this possible? if so, how can I go about doing something like that. Thanks!

Hi!

Could you use our list widget  – which can be restricted to a given category – to populate those sections of your homepage and additionally follow the steps outlined in this tutorial (in order to add featured images)? Hopefully that will get you closer to your goal.

That worked out perfectly, thanks! I do have a couple more questions. How do I display the content from the event description area? and how do I change the bottom link from “View All Events in Category” to something else? Thanks!

Hi Esteban,

Check out our Themer’s Guide and these other resources (you would need to put a template override in place to add extra info for each event):

To change the View All Events in Category text you could basically follow the same approach outlined by Brook here, for instance.
