    Hi there

I’m using events calendar and events calendar pro.

I’m looking to modify the single event view and when I copy single-event.php from the plugin directory to the correct location in my theme directory and then refresh a single event, the template appears different to how it was prior to copying and prior to me making any modifications to the file.

I’m really stumped on how this is the case. I even re-uploaded the events calendar plugin and copied across a fresh single-event.php.

The details, venue and organiser sections all now appear below the main content whereas prior to copying the single-event.php across, they were displayed in a coloured box as a form of sidebar.

I’m not sure why the act of merely copying across single-event.php is causing changes to the visual appearance even before I start to modify the file.

    Any clues would be appreciated.

    Hey Byron,

Thanks for reaching out to us – sounds like some odd behavior indeed, however, it’s worth clarifying a few things since there are a few reasons that something like this could be happening.

First, when you write “I copy single-event.php from the plugin directory”, can you clarify exactly what the path is to this version of single-event.php? There are several single-event.php files in the plugin, so it’s essential to sort out which exact one you’re using.

Next, you write “to the correct location in my theme directory” – for the similar reasons as above, can you list the exact file path of your theme-specific version of single-event.php?

These simple but important details will give us a good place to start.

    Thanks!

Ah, it turns out my theme has Events Calendar integration already in place. I’m using the Enfold theme and it seems that it integrates your plugin into the theme, so I was fighting the theme in terms of customising the plugin templates.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the update! Glad you found the culprit here. Best of luck with your site.
