ParticipantI have noticed some other discussion about this issue, notably at:
https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/css-in-v3-is-incomprehensible/#post-53526
However I am not really able to follow the thread. My situation, apparently like others, is that I used to be able to select which sidebar I wanted for the events listings. Now I can’t. It is not clear to me what I need to do to change that, and also will whatever I do be protected against future upgrades. To me this is a huge encumbrance. This site makes very aggressive use of the calendar, and to have this functionality disabled is very bad for our user experience. What will be most helpful for me is to know what additions need to be made to what files, and exactly where in the file to place it. I hope there is a simple answer.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Gordon,
How were you selecting sidebars for your event listings before? Was this through your theme or via another plugin? We do not include this functionality in our plugin so it is likely something you will need to figure out on your own or hire someone to help you. I’ll try to help a little bit if you can give me some more information, but no guarantees as to whether or not I’ll be able to solve this for you. The more information you can give me, the better (code snippets, screenshots, screencasts, etc.)
Regards,

ParticipantHi Jonah,
The strange thing is that prior to the recent upgrade of events calendar, this worked. My theme is WP-Bold from Solostream, and I use the Custom Sidebars plugin. I make extensive use of this on the site (as you can see), and I had been able to select a specific sidebar every time I made a calendar entry (I can still select a sidebar, but it has no effect). Since I choose the same sidebar for all calendar entries, I’d be content with a solution that set a default. I’d be happy to set you up as a user if you want to explore. And I don’t mind paying for a little custom work if it is a solution that will remain intact over future upgrades. From other entries in the support forum, it seems like this would be a very good feature to be able to include.Thank you,

ParticipantHi Gordon,
Unfortunately we cannot provide custom work. I can provide you with some possible firms to work with but we do not do any custom work. The configuration for Custom Sidebars can be a bit tricky in some cases and unfortunately I won’t be able to help you with this. It’s going to be something with the template files, which depending on what you have set as the Event Template in Events > Settings > Display will determine what templates to look at/edit. If you have the Default Events Template selected, most of the event related pages will use /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/default-template.php which you can edit by making a copy and placing in a ‘tribe-events’ folder in your theme. For any other Event Template option, the plugin will use the appropriate theme page template.
I hope that helps and sorry I can’t offer up more here. Good luck!
