Just updated yesterday to EC 2.0.9 & ECP 2.0.3, after the update the sidebar widget controlled by /views/events-list-load-widget-display.php is not expiring events.

Events that have an end date in the past are still showing in the widget, even though they have expired from the “events” page.

Cannot revert theme or plugins, this is a live site.

The current version of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO is 2.0.9, so if you are running the 2.0.3 version of our PRO plugin there is going to be some problems there.

OK … so that doesn’t leave a lot of scope for us to troubleshoot here. As noted here it’s important to have a testing or staging site for just this reason (if you are working with a developer hopefully they will have set this up already).

If that isn’t possible perhaps you could list the plugins and theme that you have installed in case there are any that stand-out as being prone to conflict with our own plugins. If you are using a caching plugin for instance it could be that that is “freezing” the widget.

    Barry,

I am the developer. Back when we first launched this site around February/March we had problems with older versions of ECP, so much so that I gave up with support and dug into the plugin and re-wrote the code so that it did what I expected it to ( advertising vs. delivered product was not congruent ).

With all due respect, when you have 350 clients, it’s not cost effective to keep a development area for each client. When we pay for a plugin, we expect it to work and i’m quite capable of troubleshooting most issues.

99% of my plugins auto-update, so I was not aware that my ECP was out of date. I’ve downloaded the 2.0.9 ECP update, when i upload, do i just overwrite whats in the event-calendar-pro.2.0.3 folder, or do i upload the folder named “event-calendar-pro”, then go through the deactivation/activation process? Will i lose any data? ( i have a backup ). The different named folders are throwing me off.

Hi Jason: can I just say first of all that I’m sorry to hear our plugins didn’t meet your expectations. I’m not sure what those issues were but hopefully they have been resolved in the latest releases.

Also, I’m not sure why you didn’t see a notification telling you that there was a new version of ECP available – this normally appears in the plugin admin page as it does for most plugins; has your license key been entered? If so and you still aren’t seeing these messages please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

So: to update manually the folder names probably are a bit confusing. What I’d recommend though is placing the site into maintenance mode (to avoid disruption) then removing the existing plugin folder then uploading the new one. You should not lose any event data … however, there is an existing problem whereby settings may be dropped. For that reason it could be wise to make a note of anything you have configured in Events > Settings.

With that done, does the problem with the widget remain?

Just updated the pro plugin to 2.0.9 and as you mentioned, all my settings were dropped, which dropped my custom fields (that’s how I was linking to my online ticketing software). I’m going to restore to 2.0.3 from backups. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Is there a way to disable automatically checking for updates?

Hmm, good question. Possibly you could define the PUE Update URL as an empty value, otherwise you could simply ignore the update requests.

I went through the update process again, everything is up and running with 2.0.9 with some minor code changes that I had to make.

Has there been a shortcode introduced yet, so I can integrate my events list with WPTouch Pro (as of yet, WPTouch doesn’t support custom post types, so i have to manually embed the events in a page somehow)

Hi Jason: the only shortcode I am aware of (available with Events Calendar PRO) is tribe-related-posts which may not be what you are looking for, unfortunately.
