Showing first instance of reocurring event in list.

I thought this was discussed before but I could find the thread anywhere… I’m trying to generate a list of upcoming events that tie directly into a payment form. So far it works great. But there has to be a better way to handle recurrences so they don’t fill up the list. Has there been any discussion on how to handle situations like this?
