ParticipantI thankfully & succesfully used some lines of php from your knowledge base to show my past events on the past events page in reverse chronological order. Super.
Now I want the ‘past events widget’, which I use in the sidebar and footer (see screenshot url below) to also show the past events in reverse chronological order.
How do I accomplish that?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,

MemberHi there Nienke,
Thanks for reaching out to us! I’ll help you achieving this…
First of all I would like to know how you are generating the Past Events Widget, as that’s not an option per default.
Please let me know about it,

ParticipantHi Nico,
We (simply) use the default widget for both footer and sidebar: ‘::TP::Past events’ (see screenshot’)

MemberHey Nienke,
Thanks for following up with the screenshoot but the ::TP:: Past Event widget is not part of our product, maybe it comes packed with the theme? Or an additional plugin?
Please let me know about it,

ParticipantHi Nico,
I feel alittle bit silly. But yes, it is indeed part of the Envato ‘Eventica’ plugin we use.
I should rephrase my question…because I don’t want to use a certain widget but I want to accomplish a goal:
Is there an easy way to show past events in reverse chronological order in the footer and/or sidebar? and adding to that:
Using the standard event calendar PRO product/widget with maybe some customization? Thanks in advance.

MemberHey,
Thanks for clarifying!
While it’s possible to filter and modify the ‘Advanced List Widget’ arguments to show past events, I think that for this case it might be easier to reach out to the folks behind the ‘Eventica’ theme and ask if this is possible in their widget. If they are not able to give you a solution I can point you into the right direction!
Please let me know about it,

ParticipantThx Nico.
We submitted a fruitful support ticket to ‘TokoPress’ the developer behind our theme: ‘Eventica’. They showed us where the sorting takes place in their widgets:
—————————
1. File location: ‘theme > inc > theme > widgets.php’
2. copy the file in directory ‘theme > inc > theme > widgets.php’ to your child theme in same folder like: ‘childtheme > inc > theme > widgets.php’
3. Edit the code in widget.php line 290
4. Change ‘ASC’ in ‘DESC’
—————————SOLVED!
Thx & BR,
Nienke

MemberHey Nienke,
Stocked to hear the TokoPress folks were able to help you out on this! Thanks for sharing the solution here, surely some Eventica users will appreciate this info 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close out this thread, but if you need help with anything else please don’t hesitate to create a new one and we will be happy to assist you.
