"Show only the first … recurring events" results in wrong events order

    When I check the checkbox for “Show only the first upcoming instance of recurring events”, the resulting events order is all messed up. Events are show in this order:
    Jan 29
    Jan 12
    Jan 6
    Jan 27
    Feb 2
    Jan 19
    etc
    I’ve tried switching to the TwentySeventeen theme and deactivating all other plugins; the problem is not resolved. This seems pretty serious. Please help!
