Show Google Maps link by default

In v1.3.3 the “Show Google Maps Link” checkbox on the event editing page was checked by default, even when embedded maps are disabled. Is it possible to turn this on in v2.03? It’s tedious to have to check it for every single event I’m listing.

Hey Frank. That’s a good suggestion; I’ve just confirmed the discrepancy between 1.3.3 and 2.0.3 on my end as well. While we can’t fix this in 2.0.3, I’ve added it to the list for 2.1 (which we’re working on now). I’ll see if our dev Jonah has any suggestions on how to manually implement it in the interim – assuming that is possible.

Thanks Rob! I don’t use embedded maps because they don’t render quickly on mobile, but the Google Maps link is really helpful and something that I like to include on every event I list. I appreciate you adding in this feature, or at least a “Google Maps link on by default” checkbox in Settings.

Hi Frank/Rob, I’m pretty sure this is going to be a core hack meaning that any modification we do offer up is going to be overwritten the next time you update and I’m not quite sure how to do this. Rob, can you have someone else take a look please?

Hey Frank. I reviewed this with the dev team today, and it looks like this would require a core hack (as it’s not something we currently support). As this is more a feature and less a bug, we’re going to work on making sure it is included in the 2.1 release – but a short-term workaround is something you’re probably going to want to figure out on your own, as any implementation we’d give you now would require modifications of several core files (which we don’t do in the support forums for fear of having users break their sites).

Sorry I can’t offer up more here. We’re hard at work at 2.1, so hopefully this will be in your hands very shortly. Let me know what else I can do.
