GuestHi,
Love the free version and am going to Pro if the following is possible:
My site has posts with info about cities in all states. Each city and state is a category. Is it possible to only show the widget with the first 5 events when there are events in a unique city? So my New York page only shows New York events in the right sidebar, the Washington page only events over there etc. How do I connect the categories in the posts with those in the Events Calendar?Oh, and loved the https://theeventscalendar.com/showcase/medspeaks/ showcase, is that very custom built or are there ways to get as close as possible to that one?
Thanks!

MemberGood evening Arjen and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions. Is it possible to only show the widget with the first 5 events when there are events in a unique city?
Absolutely, our widgets and widget shortcodes allow you to do precisely that: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-widget-shortcodes/
You will simply need to make sure that each page gets its own dedicate widget (for each city).
How do I connect the categories in the posts with those in the Events Calendar?
This can be accomplished via an extension Post Category Integration Example or a snippet.
You could apply the following snippet in the functions.php file of your theme (without the PHP tag at the top): https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/bc4e5ede6be660d446e3e4cf4bca5b8c
Oh, and loved the https://theeventscalendar.com/showcase/medspeaks/ showcase, is that very custom built or are there ways to get as close as possible to that one?
It is totally possible to get close to that result.
That is because we made sure that every single view we offer is customizable. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.
So short of literally asking these guys for a copy of their customization files, you could simply tweak the view files to match theirs and perhaps “borrow” some of their CSS using Google Chrome’s developer tools.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
