Sharing events across Multisite instance

We love your plugin and use it for multiple sites across the university. Our “Clients” love it too. We do have one request from a client that I have not come across before and am not sure can be handled by this plugin. They need to have a small multisite with 3 subsites, and one calendar that shares events across the three sites. Is this Possible with TEC? If not, is there a plugin for the calendar that allows this flexibility?

Excellent question.

Out of the box, as it were, the answer is no. I’m sure it’s possible to accomplish however – but could require a fair bit of trial and error.

Is there any way you guys could think of an how it would be accomplished? It would be a great extension of the current functionality.

There are a ton of avenues you could explore.

One would be modifying the events query using the provided actions and filters; another could be to build a remote API around The Events Calendar on just one of the networked sites, then use that same API to pull in the events on the other sites.

Really you’d need to do whatever you/your developer(s) feel comfortable with – I did chat to one of our devs about this and our feeling is that this is unlikely to be taken on board as a feature request, but it would definitely be great to hear back from you as to how you go about solving the problem 🙂
