We could resolve the problem with the cost set automatically to “free” when an RSVP is added to an event with “Event Tickets Plus Extension: Show Cost Fields”.
With the latest Events Calendar Update 4.6.10 the label “free” is shown again in the cost field displayed in the event.
How can we force to show only the price we define in the cost field in the event (and not as it is now: e.g. “free – CHF 10”)?

    Hi, Adrian.

Thanks for letting me know you are asking about https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/display-the-event-cost-field-when-ticket-plugins-are-installed/

Could you please provide a screenshot or link to an event displaying this?

Also, is this extension affecting the display of “free”?

    E.g. here: https://www.nenluzern.ch/event/nen-talk-2/

ALL events with RSVP activated are displaying “free” (german: kostenlos) now.

Thanks, Adrian. After some testing I was able to replicate this issue.

I’m not sure why this extension is doing this, but I’ve logged the bug internally.

Extensions don’t receive as much support/fixes as our actual plugin suite, but we have it logged for an eventual fix. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

    Hi, Adrian.

I’m happy to inform you that we got version 1.0.1 released today that resolves this bug. Please delete this extension plugin you have now and install a fresh copy from https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/show-cost-field/

Please let me know how this goes for you.

Hi Cliff! I deleted the old extension plugin and installed the new … but still the same problem with rsvp events: they all show up as “free”.
We’ll be glad to hear from you soon 🙂

Thanks for the update. Please send me a link to an event where I can see this in effect. Please also send a screenshot of this event’s wp-admin screen, particularly the ticket(s) and the Event Cost field.

    Thank you.

    Hi Cliff

Here a link to the event: https://www.nenluzern.ch/event/nen-talk-stier/

    “kostenlos” = free

    Screenshot:
    red = event cost
blue = ticket cost, but I’m not able (or I don’t know how) to change this value

“Teilnahmebestätigung” = confirmation of participation in a course

Thank you a lot for you help.

I see the Event Cost at your link: https://cl.ly/1a1c040W0m2i

You also only have an RSVP ticket displaying for this event.

RSVP tickets can only be free.

Let me know if things still aren’t clear for you.

    Hi Cliff

Well I don’t get it… Why sould rsvp be set as default for free? It makes no sense to me. For a small event (I talk about 10 – 20 people) I don’t want sell tickets. I just want rsvp, so I know how much people accually comes to the event. And I want to show a cost for the event.
Why sould rsvp automatic be set es free and there’s no way to change it?

    best regards

Event Tickets allows you to create “RSVP” tickets, which cannot have a cost per ticket, or a “PayPal” ticket, which cannot be free.

Event Tickets Plus allows you to create tickets using either WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) to complete the checkout process. These tickets can be free or have a cost.

The Event Cost manual text entry field that comes with The Events Calendar goes away when you have a ticketing plugin active. The extension re-adds it so that you can use it again. You can put whatever text you want here; it just displays alongside the event information but doesn’t actually do anything. In other words, putting “$5-10” for the Event Cost field doesn’t actually create a ticket for $5 or for $7 or for $10. Additionally, if you leave the Event Cost field hidden (i.e. don’t use the extension) and you have only RSVP tickets, it displays free because RSVP tickets can only be free. But if you have an RSVP ticket, a $5 WooCommerce ticket, and a $10 WooCommerce ticket, the event will figure this out and smartly display “Free-$10” or “$5-10” if there’s no free ticket.

Please let me know if this clears things up for you.

It’s not clear jet. Do I have to craet a new topic? Something like “remove “free” vor rsvp events”?
Because I have the Events Tickes Plus. And why sould it be not possible to remove the “free” text if I want that?
So who must I contact for this issue? And I saw in other formus, the community have the same problem…
    see here:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/remove-free-from-event-when-rsvp-ony/

    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/how-do-you-remove-free-under-event-date/

I insert the both code, but it didn’t work.
There must be a way to remove “free” from Events with rsvp.

Thank you for your helf Cliff.

    Best regards

    Happy

You have an RSVP-type ticket for https://www.nenluzern.ch/event/nen-talk-stier/

There are 4 types of tickets: RSVP, PayPal, WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads (EDD).

    RSVP cannot be paid.

    PayPal cannot be free.

Woo and EDD can be paid or free.

Maybe you need to remove the existing RSVP-type ticket you have and instead create tickets via PayPal, WooCommerce, or EDD.

Again… Why is there no hotfix for this Problem? Cliff, I mean with a Paid version of these products there must be a way to remove the “free” from a rsvp. “rsvp = free” it makes absolutley no sense.

Why are the decider have such a Problem to fix this bug?

So it sounds like you do mean to have a free RSVP ticket but do not want to display free. You found two threads — each offers a different way to accomplish this customization (one is a PHP snippet and one is a CSS snippet).

Using our plugins in a customized way isn’t considered a bug, but our product is designed to be highly extensible.

Did you try either of those customization snippets (either the PHP or CSS)?

Please reference https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/implementing-custom-code-snippets/ for how to implement custom code snippets.
