ParticipantIs there a way to set a default timezone? I have removed the timezone dropdown with this:
button#tribe-add-recurrence.button, #event_datepickers.tribe-events-community-details tr:nth-of-type(6n) {
display: none !important;
}
because all submissions will be for the same timezone.
But even though my timezone for wordpress is for chicago time, the time submitted for the event is changed after submitting. I can only assume this is because of the default timezone for the form?Thanks for your help.

ParticipantMore info:
I just updated to version 4.02 of Events Calendar, Pro and Community because I saw a lot of threads with time issues, but I am still having the same issue.It seems times show up 6 hours too early. I have wordpress set to Chicago Time zone so I’m not sure if that helps with resolving my issue.

ParticipantHey Smyth,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
At the very bottom of the Event Settings > General tab there is a section for Timezones. Try switching the dropdown to default to the sitewide timezone setting and see if that addresses the issue you’re experiencing with community event submissions.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Josh. I actually had that set correctly. I have posted a few new events and the time seems to work correctly except for the Google Calendar Export. It is posting everything 6 hours later. So my start time is 5AM and Google sets the start time to 2PM. I have google set to central time like everything else and the iCal seems to export correctly.
Any ideas?

MemberHi Smyth,
Very strange that the issue seems to lag specifically in the Google Calendar export. Is the Google Calendar perhaps set to a local timezone or in a way that automatically converts iCal times to the user’s local timezone?
Thanks!

ParticipantI agree it’s strange, but here is the process I just attempted:
1. Checked that my wordpress timezone is correct

2. Checked that Events Calendar settings are set to sitewide:

3. Checked that google calendar is set to same timezone as wordpress:

4. Started a new event and set the times below:

5. Event times show up correctly on page:

6. And correct when exporting to ical:

7. But when exporting to google, I get this:

And when I click on the timezone it shows up correctly.December 23, 2015 at 7:08 am #1045953smythkowalczyk
ParticipantSorry, pics for 5-7 didn’t show up right.

ParticipantHey Smyth,
Thanks for following up with us and providing such detailed information for us to check against! I also appreciate your patience as we celebrated the holidays over the last couple of weeks.
Would you happen to have a link where I can download a copy of the export file or would you be able to send one over? You can email it to support[at]theeventscalendar.com and reference this thread in the email.
Looking at the images above, one thought does come to mind and that is to try switching your WordPress time setting from the “Chicago” setting to the equivalent UTC time to see if that has an impact?
Thanks!

ParticipantI’m trying to add to google calendar from the single event page, so I’m not sure how to export?
I did however just try to change all my setting to UTC-6 which I think is Central Time. I live in the Houston area, but there is no Houston in the wordpress settings. Not sure why it has to be so confusing 🙂Everything still shows correctly except for the google calendar:

ParticipantGoogle calendar shows the times as 6 hours later.

ParticipantHey Smith,
If the site is public, you can send me a link to the event or the link from the generated Google Calendar button. If not, you can send me the iCal export file and I can manually import into Google. The second may not be as helpful but may still import with the same issue into Google.
Thanks!

MemberHi. Cliff chiming in here…
If I understood the latest replies, your WordPress timezone is set to UTC-6 for Houston, TX, but your events still aren’t being set to the right times, correct?
Houston follows Central Time so please try “Chicago” timezone setting. I believe I’ve seen where the “UTC…” choices don’t work but the city choices do work. Added benefit is that you don’t need to edit your timezone setting twice each year when Daylight Savings Time changes the UTC offset.
Please let us know what you find out changing to “Chicago” so we can log it as a bug if you confirm it.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Cliff,
I was using Chicago initially. I actually just figured this out though and it was of coarse the simplest thing ever. I just needed to have it set to use local timezones for each event instead of sitewide. Works perfectly. Thanks for both of your help.Smmyth
