ParticipantDo you have any guidance on how to change the length of time a search covers. At the moment a search only returns results for the current month – I’d like it to cover an entire year or a defined period. I’ve searched in the forum and the tutorials but can’t reference to it. I’ve seen it in use on other sites so know it can be done.
Thanks…August 23, 2013 at 4:25 pm #62658Leah
MemberHi colinwood,
The search will return the results based on your view- so if you are in Month View and search for keyword Party, you’ll only see the parties in this month. You can move forward and the search criteria should stay (thus showing parties in the next month). If you want to search a larger date range, users can search in List View, which will show as many relevant posts as you have set in Events Per Page. Does that answer your question?
Cheers,

ParticipantThanks, I had another look at the site I was referring to http://www.faheysales.com/events/2013-11/ and I got mixed up about what was shown. I’ll look into using the list view, thanks. Incidentally, any tips on how to add a drop down month selector to make navigation easier ?
Thanks.August 23, 2013 at 6:00 pm #62668colinwood
ParticipantI don’t want to set list view as the default for the events page so I was thinking of adding an instruction about this issue to the top of the page – any tips on how to go about this ?

Hmm, not really, although you might try searching the forums to see if someone else made one. There’s a month datepicker that shows when you’re on Calendar View, but as you know it defaults to the other option on List View. You might just try making your Events Per Page setting a large number (like 30). That way when someone selects a date, say, 9/3/2013, they’ll see the 30 upcoming events on or after that date- which might cover a full month of events for you, although it wouldn’t be exact.

Under Events –> Settings on the Display tab there are two text boxes for Add HTML Before Calendar and Add HTML After Calendar. You could add a note in the Before box and it would display above the Event Bar. Does that help?

ParticipantThanks, I’ll try that.
I noticed on another site that there is an upcoming events page created by the plugin, which is in list view. I added that to my menu system with a note about using it for searching more than just the current month. HTH others.
Are there any other pages dynamically created – besides events and upcoming events ?

MemberHey colinwood,
Generally the /events/ page will take you to whatever you Default View is. So for your settings that page is the Month View, while /events/upcoming is List View. If List View was set as default that’s what would show at /events/.
Aside from whatever is default, you can link specifically to any (enabled) View with the following:
/events/month/ – Month View
/events/upcoming/ – List View
/events/week/ – Week View
/events/today/ – Day View
/events/map/ – Map View
/events/photo/ – Photo View
(The above assumes that your Events URL slug is events.)Does that answer your question?
