ParticipantHi
I have just purchased the events PRO for my website http://www.ausagventures.com
Before that I was using the normal events Calendar.
So I’m a bit frustrated that the search by near/location isn’t working and it’s the whole reason I upgraded to pro.
When you go to type in a location, when I type in Sydney it comes up with the suggestion “Sydney NSW, Australia” but it doesn’t do that for any other locations…
When I typed in a State such as “Western Australia” or “New South Wales” no events show, even though there are several events in those states
But when you click Map View all the events are on the actual google map…
It’s really super important that my users can search for events by location especially state, as these are rural and regional events, people will often have to travel a long distance to attend, so I need them to be able to tell which events are in their state.
Also not too sure of the point of the “Event Categories” if users cannot search events by categories?
Also, when watching the video on display settings, my dropdown menu for “templates” doesn’t have the same options as on the video…
Also the “search” function in the middle doesn’t work- it just looks like it is loading for a long long time….
Really looking forward to resolving this issue, don’t want to have to start the search for a new plugin all over again…December 2, 2013 at 9:13 am #79630Barry
MemberUnfortunately I don’t believe you can search by state or country, you would need to enter a city name like “Perth” and you would hopefully see “Perth WA, Australia” as one of the options.
We do invite and encourage feature requests, though, so if this is important to you please do post a request and we’ll certainly consider it, within the constraints of Google’s mapping and geolocation APIs of course.
For your other issues (categories, template selection etc) please create separate issues as we very much prefer to stick to one issue per thread.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks mate,
Ok for this thread I’ll just stick to “search by near/location”
When you type in the major Australian cities they come up, but not all of the big towns (in Aus we only have 7 capitol cities but many big towns)
For example a lot of my events will be in Tamworth, New South Wales as it is the country music capital of Australia
You type in Tamworth and nothing comes up….
Am I doing something wrong?

MemberOK. We have indeed seen something similar (albeit in a UK context) with a lack of results for the major city of Birmingham. I’m afraid that we’re really at the mercy of Google here – it isn’t clear why these apparent gaps exist or if they might be temporary.
