Search Events?

Is there a search events function for users? I know I can use the WP Search Widget but it returns more info than just the events and we really don’t want it on the site other than for events.

Hi Grace. What exactly are you trying to do here? Just restrict the plugin from being accessed (on the backend) by anyone lower than X permissions level? Or have I misunderstood? Let me know and we can elaborate as needed from there.

Just want the public to be able to search for an artist on the events page is all 🙂

So you want a search built into the Events page that just searches event data? Would it pull in venues/organizers too?

Just need events, we are the only Venue really and we have in house promoters so they aren’t listed, we do sometimes co-sponsor concerts at other venues but that is rare and wouldn’t need a separate venue search.

Ah, I understand what you’re saying. At this point there’s no way to search for just events on the frontend (since the broader WP search picks up Events + posts, pages, etc). You may be able to hack it together to make this happen; would that be of interest to you? If so I can get a dev to offer up any suggestions they have (but no guarantees as this is somewhat outside the scope of what the plugin is meant to do). Let me know.

Thanks for checking 🙂 If someone has the time that would be great but it’s not a pressing issue, I may just use the WP Front End search and deal with the extra listings it brings up. Maybe a future feature request for an internal search of just listings? Thanks again.

Thanks for the thoughts, Grace – I know we’ve got an updated Search function on the list for eventually addressing, and if you post a request for it at the Feature Requests thread (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-calendar-pro-feature-requests/), it’ll certainly be given more bearing as we move to outline future builds!
