I can’t seem to get a specific location of any of my events to show up when I do a simple keyword search for the venue name. I have the locations such as “Hobby Lobby” and “Michaels” listed as keyword tags and listed in the actual text of each event listing. Yet, when I type in Hobby Lobby as a keyword to hopefully get my list of 14 classes there, nothing shows in the search results.

I am not familiar with how to edit PHP, so the other old forums that talk about a search button have a “display:none” somewhere isn’t helpful because I don’t see anything anywhere in order to try and delete that. I’ve clicked the .php places at the right of my dashboard screen when I click on the actual Events Calendar Plugin, however, the codes inside those boxes are small and says nothing like what I’m seeing in the forums.

Please advise how I can fix this, as I purchased the upgrade to Pro so I could use the Tickets Plus plugin and sell registrations to my classes. The old Event Calendar before the upgrade didn’t have this issue and search worked just fine. So it must be in the additional Pro plugin?

My events website page is: https://sparklebymonica.com/event/

    Thanks.

    Hi Monica,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the delayed response! Our forums have been a bit busier than usual lately.

The keyword search box actually only looks at the event title, description, and excerpt (in both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro). Unfortunately, the keyword search doesn’t pick up on things like venues and organizers. It uses standard WordPress search functionality, and venues and organizers are custom fields that we have added to events.

Your easiest solution here would be to include the term “Hobby Lobby” in your event description or excerpt (something like “Join us at Hobby Lobby…”). This would allow the keyword search to see it. You can see how this works now by searching for “Michaels” – the events that have “Michaels” in the title/description/excerpt are the only results.

Sorry I don’t have a better solution for you, but please let me know if this works for you or if you have any more questions!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
