Scrolling list of upcoming events

Hi,

Is it possible to get a small box displayed on our homepage the same as the latest 5 blog posts on our homepage instead of just having a page with the whole month view? We just want it to scroll through say the latest 5 or so just to give an idea of some of the events we have running at a glance on the homepage.

Yes, there is a way to highlight the next 5 upcoming events on your homepage without the full calendar. The events list widget is perfect for that–it allows you to embed a list of 1-10 events in your sidebar. The good news is that’s already included in The Events Calendar, so you don’t need to buy anything to start using that right away!

Our Events Calendar PRO add-on includes a more advanced version of that same widget that allows you to filter that list by specific categories and tags. It also includes shortcodes you can use to embed the widget on any page or post instead of just a sidebar.

Thanks for the detailed info. Can the list just show one at a time but act as a slider or have arrows to scroll through them instead of listing them all under each other?

Hello Nicky,

I’m afraid that the widget is more of a list than a slider. In other words, it will list out the upcoming events rather than show one at a time.

That said, it is certainly possible to create a slider for events–but that would take a fair amount of custom development that isn’t supported right out of the box.
