ParticipantHi from Berlin,
I got a problem: The scheduled facebook & meetup event imports via aggregator don’t work anymore since a few weeks. Everything seems to be ok as shown on the screenshots and manually importing events works fine. Can you think of a solution?
Thanks and best,
Leander-

MemberHello Leander!
Thanks for getting in touch with us! 🙂
I’m really sorry you are experiencing that issue. Let me help you with the troubleshooting.
Are you able to manually run those imports?
Could you please try the following: Go to Events > Settings > Licenses and remove the Event Aggregator license and click save. Then go to your account licenses >Â https://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys/Â and disconnect the license from your site. After that, enter your license back in your site and save. Does it change anything?
Let us know about it.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor,
Thanks so far! I tried it out as described by you but nothing changed.
I also tested this: Manually importing pages doesn’t work, manually importing single events does work. Does that help as a clue?
What else could be the cause?

ParticipantP.S.
Hmm. I added a new Facebook page as scheduled which got upcoming events, that worked. Older one still don’t work. And I can’t schedule Facebook pages which don’t have events upcoming.

MemberHello Leander!
Thanks for following up with this!
We’ve had other users reporting similar issues with scheduled imports as well and we are actively investigating this. As we cannot replicate the issue on our own side it’s hard to find the source of it, so we need to try different angles to approach this.
It’s good to know that re-scheduling the imports works for you. Unfortunately, like you say there is no way to schedule Facebook pages with no upcoming events in it. This is certainly something we could do better in the future.
Manually importing pages doesn’t work, manually importing single events does work.
This is interesting. Could you please share with us the URL for those imports? We’ll try to make some tests on our end and see what we find.
Thanks,

ParticipantThanks, Victor.
The problem really seems to be that older scheduled daily or weekly imports of Facebook pages don’t work any more. They used to until a couple weeks ago. I testet again a bit. New scheduling for pages only works if they have currently events coming up. Otherwise it doesn’t which takes away most of the point of using it. Interestingly it’s the the same for meetup imports. Manually importing single events works if they are past events.
What kind of URLs do you need exactly?
I’m really hoping for a solution. Thanks for your dedication.

Just to confirm, does this mean that you have ‘Hourly’ imports that do work?
Regarding the failing scheduled imports from Facebook, are those the ones that don’t have coming up events? Could you please share the Facebook URL for these so we can run some tests?

ParticipantHi Victor,
Is this due to changes at Facebook or a problem of the plugin?
2 aspects:
A few scheduled daily imports do work, of around 500 maybe 2-3 which is weird. It’s also a problem of meetup so that’s another thing.
Yesterday it worked (as seen on the screenshot), other than that it doesn’t: https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/content-marketing-tuesday/This facebook page works funny enough (as seen on screenshot): https://www.facebook.com/buergerschaffenwissen/
And that’s the only old scheduled import where an event made it through during the last days: http://orbanism.com/event/seminar-praktisches-metadatenmanagement-vlb/ I published it just now so you can do tests.
And: I can’t newly schedule imports for pages which don’t have currently events coming up. So the whole feature doesn’t make sense in this case any more. And it used to work beforehand. That’s what used to be good about it that newly posted events of the pages automatically come into the system and I don’t have to check manually.
What’s the plan?

MemberHello Leander!
Thanks for your continued help and patience so far.
First, I wanted to let you know that we have logged a report for not being able to schedule Facebook sources without upcoming events. I will change this thread’s status to pending fix and link it to the report so we can let you know when we have a fix for it.
Please note that this could also be the cause of previously scheduled Facebook imports failing. So could you please see if any of those failed imports you have come from Facebook sources with no upcoming events?
Is this due to changes at Facebook or a problem of the plugin?
I really cannot tell at the moment, as this is already being handled by the development team. I know it involves handling the responses from Facebook when requesting the events from them, but also involves the Event Aggregator servers and ultimately our plugin.
Regarding the Meetup import source you shared, while it doesn’t have upcoming events in it, I could import with no errors.
You mention that you have 500 scheduled events, could you also please check that you are not exceeding the number of imports your Event Aggregator license (100 daily imports) has? You can do so by going to Events > Help and under Event Aggregator System Status you can see your license current usage.
Please let us know about that.
I apologise for all the inconvenience and we’d appreciate your patience while we work on this together.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor,
And thanks for your support!
“So could you please see if any of those failed imports you have come from Facebook sources with no upcoming events?”
I got many pages scheduled and almost no events coming in since weeks. There are definitely plenty of pages among them with newly scheduled events. One example you’ll find in the screenshots.
I’m not exceeding the limit – I wish I would be. 😉 It’s 3 of 100 as shown on the screenshot. The problem really is that nothing is coming in. I also updated all plugins, reconnected with Facebook and did all that. It’s more fundamental, it seems.
Hoping for progress and
best,

MemberHi Leander!
Thanks once again for your collaboration so far.
I suspect that the number of scheduled imports running at the same time could be something we should analyse. Could you please let us know how many scheduled imports you have (or had before) at the same time? For example, do you have 30 or more scheduled imports that run every week, on the same day, at the same time? If so, please let us know about it.
I will reach out to the team with your case to have a second pair of eyes on it, and I will get back to you to let you know the next steps to make.
Please hang in there.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor,
I have around 500 scheduled imports running, most of them daily – but ever since my start of using your plugins in March or so. It worked fine until a couple weeks ago and the number of daily imports of actual events was always far below 100.
Thanks,

MemberHello Leander!
Thanks for clearing that out.
I’m sorry for a bit of delay here. We’ve just checked your last imports and it looks like a number of imports are running, but not all are successful. Having a closer look at those imports, it seems that the ones failing are coming from Facebook sources that have no upcoming events.
I see the last successful imports are from https://www.facebook.com/buergerschaffenwissen and https://www.facebook.com/haufeverlag
Could you please tell us a which were your last failed imports from Facebook that have upcoming events?
Thanks,
VictorAugust 8, 2017 at 5:33 pm #1332523Leander Wattig
ParticipantHi Victor,
for example this import came through now – one of 2-3, hundreds of others failed: http://orbanism.com/event/barcamp-koeln-2017/
I can’t really discover a pattern since among the 500 there must be plenty of pages which have events coming up now. I checked a bit. For example this page’s import failed again and meanwhile it has many events coming up – as you can see with the attached screenshots:
“Lettrétage – das Literaturhaus in Berlin Kreuzberg” (https://www.facebook.com/pg/Lettretage/events/)
Same here:
– https://www.facebook.com/literaturhaus.hamburg/
(And many others.)What I recognized when editing imported events now, that there are Zeros in fields of the phone number for example and in the data fields of the events organizers. This didn’t happen before.
I also looked into the forum. There seem to be many people having problems with the importer to there must really be something.
Thanks for your help, hoping for improvement.

MemberHi Leander!
Thanks for coming back with all that information and what you’ve found so far.
We will run some tests on our end to see what we can find regarding the status of your imports in the server side of things and I’ll get back to you with the findings.
In the meantime, could you please go to your scheduled imports and hover over the red exclamation marks to let us know what error messages you see?
Thanks,
Victor -
