    Hi,

we are using the Events Aggregator to import events from Facebook on a weekly base.

Unfortunately the system stopped importing them (not sure when, but probably already 1-2 weeks ago).

Find a screenshot with a list of all the Facebook sites which should be imported.
They are all scheduled for Monday 20:00 (CET), which means they should have run already 1 hour ago.

Find a second screenshot attached with a CURL error message.

    Best regards,
    Oliver

PS: when we start the import manually everything works fine.

    Hi Oliver

I’m very sorry this is happening. We are aware of this known bug. I am flagging this thread to notify you as soon as a solution is available for update.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Hi Courtney,

in the changelog of the new release I found this info:

Fix – Fixed an issues where Event Aggregator scheduled imports could not run other than manually

Unfortunately the automatic import doesn’t work for us.

    Any news or ideas?

    Best,
    Oliver

    Hi there Oliver,

As you note, there has been a release (I was about to post about it). I’m sorry to hear the update didn’t fix the issue for you 🙁

Do you notice any difference in the behaviour after the update? Or simply the same?

    Best,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,

I did some more tests today.
    I changed two things:

    a) I used another License Key
    b) I changed the cycle to 30 minutes

Result: The imports are running, but lot of them have an exclamation mark or a watch icon (see attached screenshot). What does this mean?

Btw: is there anywhere an user manual for the Event Aggregator available? I guess I really need one to understand it better 😉

    Best regards,
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver

You can view all of our tutorials at https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/plugin/event-aggregator/.

When you hover over the symbols, a tool tip will appear to clarify what each means.

    – Green tick: Import Completed.
    – Yellow Clock: Import Pending.
    – Red exclamation: Import failed.

Per our developers: scheduled imports could remaing “pending” *for hours* while processing the feeds
many scheduled imports + low traffic = slow imports due to how WP-cron works

Please let me know if the red exclamations clear up.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Hi Courtney,

thank you for the explanation and the link.

I had a look at the mouse over error messages, but unfortunately they don’t help me to solve the problem. :-/

There are three types of errors:

    – Import failed. (“Import fehlgeschlagen.”)
    – Import failed. The import fetched is not queued up for importing. Please try the import again.
    – Import failed. Import data records have to be finalized, before posts (events) can be inserted. (“Import fehlgeschlagen. Import-Datensätze müssen finalisiert werden, bevor Beiträge eingefügt werden können.”)

Do you have any idea how to resolve them?

    Best regards,
    Oliver

PS: a more detailed or understandable error message is needed to make it useful. I recommend to change them to a more userfriendly explanation.

    Hi Oliver

Can you provide me with the sources you are trying to import? I’d like to test this further.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

Of course. Have a look here:

For error “Import failed. The import fetched is not queued up for importing. Please try the import again.”

    Hi Oliver

I noticed that on the first two links, there are no events currently scheduled. Can you let me know when an event is scheduled and fails to import?

On the 3rd link, I was able to successfully import the 1 event. Is that one still failing for you?

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Hi Courtney,

please try these. They have events scheduled:

    https://www.facebook.com/hafenhalle/events/
    https://www.facebook.com/pg/Jazz-Jamsession-%C3%9Cberlingen-231728703863264/events/
    https://www.facebook.com/pg/jazztimeRV/events/
    https://www.facebook.com/pg/KaufleutenKultur/events/
    https://www.facebook.com/pg/jazzstuttgart/events/

And: can you explain me what the 3 error messages above mean? This would be really helpful!
And maybe you can put the answers in the FAQ link above, too 😉

    Best regards,
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver!

Let me help you out while Courtney is out today.

Thanks for sending out those links. I did a few tests in my own installation but could not reproduce the errors you are having with those sources.

For the “Import failed. The import fetched is not queued up for importing. Please try the import again.” error, could you please try deleting one of those scheduled imports and then re-schedule it again? Do you get an error for that source after that?

Regarding the error “Import failed. Import data records have to be finalized, before posts (events) can be inserted.” It seems to me this could be an isolated error message for a specific scenario. I will reach out to the team regarding this error and will get back to you when I get a more accurate definition of it.

Please let us know how re-scheduling the imports work for you.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor!

Thanks for the hint. After adding all the import again from scratch it works! 🙂

Can you explain me why? I would like to understand the route of the issue to be prepared for the next time.
And can you please give me an answer what the three error messages mean / in what circumstances they are thrown? That would be really helpful:

    1. Import failed.
    2. Import failed. The import fetched is not queued up for importing. Please try the import again.
    3. Import failed. Import data records have to be finalized, before posts (events) can be inserted.

    Best regards,
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver

I’ve just returned from a family vacation. While I was out, I see that we’ve shipped several fixes to both The Events Calendar and the Event Aggregator server that processes imports. However, some of our users are still experiencing the same issues. I know the team has been hard at work on these issues, but it seems we don’t yet have a clear solution for you. I will be sure you receive an update as soon as we’ve got one. I’m so sorry this has been going on for so long.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂
