ParticipantRan into a curious issue with saved venues today. I have a number of events that all occur at the same venue. When I added the first such event and supplied the venue details (including checking the show Google Map/directions boxes), the event showed fine and included the map. When I added more events and selected the saved venue I had just created (an awesome feature), the event listing did not display the map.
I did check on the venue in the backend and confirm that the Google maps options are still checked. Any ideas on what could be causing the issue?
Thanks!

MemberHi Ashley, sorry you’re experiencing this.
If the Venue’s map worked the first time you viewed an Event at that Venue — and you didn’t then edit the Venue — it should definitely still work on other Single Event pages too.
Could you please provide me some links so I can investigate on your actual site to help?
Thank you.

ParticipantSure! I noticed also that if I add the event from the backend and choose a saved venue, it gives me the option to check the Google Map links again. If I do that, it works fine … but if I enter the event from the front end (which is what we’ll want most users to do), it doesn’t give the option and doesn’t show the map on the event listing.
Here’s the link to the first event where I manually input the venue details: http://fishermenstable.org/event/the-bontrager-family-singers/
And here’s a link to an event where I just selected that saved venue:

MemberGotcha. So the issue is that people are not checking these 2 boxes when creating a new Venue via CE front-end form.
And you’re wanting them checked by default, right?
If you want to do that, you can follow our Themer’s Guide and duplicate/copy the /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-community-events/src/views/community/modules/venue.php file into [your-child-theme]/tribe-events/community/modules/ folder and then make this edit to your custom version of venue.php
I hope this helps!

ParticipantThat might be a work around, but it’s not actually the issue.
The issue is that if people choose a *saved venue* that’s already been created, they do not even have the option to select those two boxes, and even though those two boxes *are* checked in the venue (because they checked them when they first created it) … it does not show the map on the new event.

MemberAshley, thank you for pointing this out.
I have been able to replicate the following issue on my local testing site:
- Have an existing venue that has Show Google Map and Show Google Maps Link checked (you can even view the Venue’s page to make sure the map actually works)
- Create a new event via Community Events form and select this venue
- Publish/View this new event and see the venue map is not displayed on the Event Single page
I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release. I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

ParticipantI can confirm I’m having this exact same issue. Apologies I’ve just raised a seperate thread but the issue is the same.
I would actually like the googlemaps links checked by default so I’ll nick that code and give it a try. Thanks!

MemberHa, I didn’t realize it was you twice. 😉
I’ll leave this thread as Pending Fix. I’m guessing they’ll flag this as something to fix sooner (weeks) rather than later (months).
Thanks for your patience!
